The Master of Social Work (MSW) will provide clinical and therapeutic services to clients in a private counseling practice. Position Overview:

The Master of Social Work (MSW) will provide clinical and therapeutic services to clients in a private counseling practice. The MSW will work with individuals, families, and groups to address a variety of mental health, emotional, and social challenges. Under the supervision of a licensed clinical supervisor, the MSW will conduct assessments, develop treatment plans, and utilize evidence-based therapeutic interventions. This role provides a great opportunity for a social worker to gain valuable experience in a supportive, client-focused environment while working toward clinical licensure.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Services:

  • Provide individual, family, and group therapy to clients dealing with emotional, behavioral, and mental health issues, under supervision of a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or other licensed supervisor.
  • Conduct biopsychosocial assessments to identify client needs, strengths, and challenges.
  • Develop, implement, and regularly update personalized treatment plans based on client goals and progress.
  • Use evidence-based therapeutic approaches, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, or Motivational Interviewing, to provide effective interventions.
  • Assist clients with crisis intervention and provide immediate support when necessary.
  • Maintain timely, accurate, and confidential documentation in compliance with practice standards and HIPAA regulations.

Client Advocacy & Support:

  • Help clients navigate community resources, including housing, employment, financial support, and healthcare services.
  • Provide advocacy and case management services to support clients’ access to necessary resources and services.
  • Educate clients and families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and strategies for self-care and coping.
  • Foster a therapeutic relationship with clients to create a safe, non-judgmental environment for growth and healing.

Collaboration & Teamwork:

  • Work collaboratively with clinical supervisors and other mental health professionals to ensure comprehensive care for clients.
  • Participate in regular supervision meetings, case consultations, and clinical team discussions to enhance service delivery and professional development.
  • Collaborate with external healthcare providers, schools, or social service agencies to ensure holistic care for clients.

Compliance & Professional Development:

  • Adhere to all ethical guidelines and legal standards, including confidentiality and HIPAA requirements.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of social work best practices and pursue continuing education opportunities to stay informed of trends in mental health treatment.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities, supervision, and training to work toward clinical licensure (if applicable).
  • Follow state and practice-specific guidelines for supervised hours and professional growth.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution.
  • Licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Master Social Worker (LMSW) in [State] (clinical supervision provided to work toward LCSW, if applicable).
  • Experience in mental health, counseling, or social work, preferably in a therapeutic or clinical setting.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based therapeutic approaches and a strong commitment to client-centered care.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with clients.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems and clinical documentation processes.
