Position Overview:
The Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC-S) will provide clinical counseling services to clients while also offering supervision to interns and pre-licensed professionals within the practice. In addition to delivering therapeutic interventions, the LPC-S will support the professional development of interns and associate-level counselors by providing clinical supervision, mentorship, and guidance as they work toward licensure. The LPC-S will be instrumental in ensuring both high-quality client care and the growth of the clinical team.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Counseling:
- Provide individual, family, and group therapy to clients experiencing a range of emotional, behavioral, and mental health challenges.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments, including biopsychosocial evaluations, and collaborate with clients to create individualized treatment plans.
- Implement evidence-based therapeutic interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), trauma-informed care, and other relevant modalities.
- Manage a clinical caseload efficiently while ensuring clients receive high-quality, compassionate care.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date clinical documentation in compliance with practice policies and HIPAA regulations.
Clinical Supervision:
- Provide clinical supervision and mentorship to interns and pre-licensed counselors (e.g., LPC Associates, LPC Interns) to support their growth and development as mental health professionals.
- Conduct regular individual and group supervision meetings, reviewing cases, treatment plans, and progress notes to ensure quality of care.
- Offer feedback, guidance, and training on clinical skills, documentation, and ethical practice in line with licensure requirements and state regulations.
- Monitor supervisees’ clinical performance and assist in navigating challenges with client cases, treatment interventions, and professional development.
- Approve and sign off on clinical hours, evaluations, and documentation required for licensure.
- Support supervisees in preparing for licensure exams, developing clinical competencies, and maintaining professional standards.
Team Collaboration & Leadership:
- Work closely with the clinical team, including therapists, counselors, and administrative staff, to ensure seamless, coordinated client care.
- Participate in case consultations, peer supervision, and clinical team meetings to contribute to the overall mission and values of the practice.
- Foster a positive and supportive work environment that promotes teamwork, collaboration, and ongoing learning.
- Collaborate with the Clinical Director to ensure supervisees are assigned appropriate caseloads and clinical responsibilities based on their experience and skill level.
Program Development & Quality Assurance:
- Assist in the development and implementation of clinical training programs, workshops, and educational resources for the clinical team and supervisees.
- Ensure adherence to ethical guidelines, licensing regulations, and best practices in clinical supervision and counseling.
- Engage in regular self-assessment and professional development to stay informed of industry trends, counseling approaches, and supervision techniques.
- Contribute to quality assurance efforts by monitoring and evaluating the clinical performance of supervisees and overall treatment outcomes.
Compliance & Ethics:
- Ensure all clinical services and supervision comply with state and federal laws, ethical standards, and HIPAA requirements.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of licensure requirements and ensure supervisees meet all necessary standards for clinical practice and documentation.
- Address any ethical or legal concerns within the clinical team and provide guidance on resolving these issues.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC-S) in [State], in good standing.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of post-graduate clinical experience in a counseling or mental health setting.
- Approved to supervise pre-licensed professionals and interns under state-specific licensure guidelines.
- Strong knowledge of evidence-based therapeutic approaches and clinical supervision techniques.
- Proven leadership and mentorship skills, with a passion for fostering the growth and development of new professionals.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and documentation skills.
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and clinical documentation processes.
Desired Skills:
- Experience with a variety of client populations, including children, adolescents, adults, families, or couples.
- Specialized certifications or expertise in trauma, addiction, family therapy, or other clinical areas.
- Experience in program development or training for clinical staff and interns.
- Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to manage complex clinical and supervisory challenges.
