Position: Lead Teacher
Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week

Role Overview
The Lead Teacher is responsible for creating a positive and enriching learning environment for young children. This role involves planning and implementing educational activities, managing classroom dynamics, and ensuring the safety and well-being of all students. The Lead Teacher will work closely with Associate Teachers and other staff members to deliver a comprehensive educational program.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Curriculum Development and Implementation:
- Plan and execute a developmentally appropriate curriculum that meets the needs of all children.
- Integrate Montessori methods and materials.
- Develop lesson plans that promote social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.
- Classroom Management:
- Create a safe, clean, and engaging classroom environment.
- Maintain accurate records of each child’s progress and development.
- Manage classroom behavior using positive discipline techniques.
- Family Engagement:
- Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers about their child’s progress and any concerns.
- Conduct parent-teacher conferences to discuss development and strategies for support.
- Professional Development:
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training opportunities.
- Stay current with Montessori education best practices and licensing requirements.
- Team Collaboration:
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to create a cohesive and supportive educational environment.
- Mentor and support Associate Teachers.
Requirements
- Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED, HiSet, or TASC).
- At least 18 years old.
- Meet one of the following criteria as per NH childcare licensing guidelines:
- A minimum of 18 credits in related coursework, including at least 3 credits in child or human growth and development, plus 1000 hours of experience in a licensed childcare program or public/private elementary school.
- A minimum of 12 credits in related coursework, plus 3000 hours of experience.
- Non-expired Child Development Associate (CDA) in center-based programs.
- Credential from a teacher preparation program accredited by MACTE.
- Five years as a licensed family childcare provider with no enforcement actions.
- Completion of the New Hampshire Early Childhood Apprenticeship Program.
- 1000 hours of supervised childcare experience and completion of a 2-year vocational course in career and technical education with an additional 9 credits in related coursework.
- Documentation of qualification and employment as a lead teacher on or before November 6, 2017.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Montessori associate or full credential.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
