Established in 1989 by a passionate group of parents, Montessori Schoolhouse of Cheshire County has been a cornerstone of early childhood education in the Monadnock Region for over three decades. Our mission is to create a safe, nurturing, and peaceful environment where children from 16 months to 6 years can thrive, be curious, and explore their world through a blend of hands-on education and nature-based learning. This August, we proudly celebrate 35 years of providing families with the highest quality education through our 9-month school year and enriching summer camps. Our unique approach includes respecting each child's individuality by allowing them the autonomy to choose activities that align with their internal needs, recognizing sensitive periods for learning to maximize their potential, and providing a prepared environment free from technology and distractions that inspires exploration and independent thinking. Our teachers act as guides, fostering independence and self-discovery, and nurturing a lifelong love of learning. We are committed to partnering with parents to encourage the development of skills, curiosity, and the exploration of each child's potential, promoting the principles and methodology of Dr. Maria Montessori. Founded by parents dedicated to creating the best educational experience for their children, we remain a non-profit school overseen by a volunteer board of directors, with the main goal of continuing to provide the Monadnock region with the highest quality Montessori preschool and toddler educational programs.
