Description

Product Specialist, Quality Assurance

Lendesca · St. Louis, MO (hybrid) · Full-time

About Lendesca

Lendesca is building the first AI-native Loan Origination System (LOS) purpose-built for government-guaranteed lending, and we are building it for the use of our in-house team of small business lending experts.

Our technology team is intentionally small and AI-leveraged, but hasn’t lost the focus of quality code, strong planning, and a desire to build quality for the long term. We’re hiring this role to push both quality and throughput further as the program evolves and the teams grow.

The role

You’ll turn rough business needs into buildable, testable specifications — and then validate that what we built does what it should. You’ll be the bridge between subject matter experts (loan officers, underwriters, closers, servicers) and the engineering team, and you’ll own quality assurance across the platform.

This is a hybrid product / QA role today, reporting directly to the CTO, and it’s the role that unblocks our next stage of growth. As we scale, this role will split into dedicated paths and you’ll be positioned to lead either one.

You’ll have a small, engaged team around you — the CTO is hands-on, the engineers are accessible, and the loan operations experts who use the platform are a Slack message away. But this is a role for someone who drives their own work. No one will hand you a backlog or chase you for status. You’ll set priorities for your domain, surface what you need, and ship.

What you’ll own

  • Critical analysis of business needs and drafted requirements. Take requirements from 80% to 100%. Interrogate the business case behind each ask. Identify edge cases, conflicts with SBA SOP 50 10 8 or other regulatory constraints, and gaps the original requester didn’t surface.
  • Refined, working mockups through AI tools. Translate requirements into interactive mockups that engineering can build against.
  • Subject matter expert interface. Sit between the loan operations team and engineering. Answer developer questions during build, surface ambiguity early, and run sign-off sessions with SMEs before release.
  • Hands-on quality assurance validation. Validate every release. Build out test cases, run regression checks, log and triage defects. QA today is manual; you’ll be the person who knows it best.
  • The journey to QA automation. Lead the path from manual to automated testing. You don’t need to land Day 1 with a full automation stack — but you’ll set the strategy and execute against it as the platform scales.
  • Documentation as system of record. Notion is where our product knowledge lives. You’ll own keeping it current, structured, and queryable.

What we’re looking for

  • Fintech experience is the key requirement. You’ve worked in regulated financial services — lending, payments, banking-as-a-service, or similar. You understand why “close enough” doesn’t fly when there’s a regulator on the other side.
  • 2–5 years in a product, business analyst, QA, or hybrid role. Title matters less than the actual scope of the work you’ve done.
  • AI-native fluency. You actively use AI tools — Claude, Cursor, Copilot, v0 — in your daily work. We’re an AI-leveraged company and this role is no exception.
  • Strong written communication. Requirements docs and test cases are your primary output. They need to be unambiguous.
  • A self-starter who ships. You set your own priorities and drive work to completion. You’ll have direct access to engineers, the CTO, and SMEs — but you don’t wait for someone to tell you what to do next.

Bonus points

  • Direct experience with SBA 7(a), SBA 504, or USDA B&I lending
  • Background in loan origination, underwriting, or servicing software
  • QA automation experience (Playwright, Cypress, or similar)
  • Experience with structured product documentation (Notion, Confluence) as a system of record
  • You’ve worked at an early-stage company before and know the rhythm

What you’ll grow into

This role is the foundation for a product organization. As Lendesca scales, it splits — Product Specialist by domain (Compliance, Servicing, AI), or a dedicated QA leadership track owning the automation function.

Logistics

  • Location: St. Louis, MO. Hybrid — we want you in the room with the team regularly.
  • Employment: Full-time
  • Compensation: Competitive base plus meaningful equity. Specifics in the first conversation.
  • Reports to: CTO
