Description

A General Manager (GM) for a New York dispensary is responsible for the overall success of the retail location, primarily focusing on maintaining strict compliance with Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) regulations, driving sales revenue, and leading a diverse retail team. [1, 2, 3]



Key Responsibilities

  • Compliance & Regulatory Oversight: Ensure full adherence to New York state cannabis laws, including accurate ID verification, transaction tracking, and preparing for frequent OCM audits.
  • Operational Excellence: Oversee daily store functions such as opening/closing procedures, vault organization, cash handling, and security protocols.
  • Inventory Control: Manage compliant inventory systems conduct weekly audits, and coordinate with vendors for product replenishment.
  • Team Leadership: Recruit, hire, and train dispensary staff, including budtenders, supervisors, and security personnel. GMs are often expected to be "hands-on" and present on the sales floor.
  • Financial Performance: Track and analyze Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) like average order value (AOV) and conversion rates to hit daily, weekly, and monthly revenue targets.
  • Customer Experience: Maintain high standards for service and education to build brand loyalty and resolve any customer issues professionally.
