The School Aide Staff position is an hourly (non-exempt) position reporting to the Assistant Principal/School Sustainability Manager. The School Aide Staff person performs a variety of activities to ensure the school runs effectively for the students, teachers, Administration, and staff on a daily basis. The role also supports overall school goals and objectives as determined by the Assistant Principal.

The Girls Empowerment Middle School (GEMS) Las Vegas is an all-girls charter middle school serving 6th - 8th grade students.  GEMS offers a STEM education delivered in an environment designed to foster the next generation of leaders.  Our girls learn self-respect and critical thinking in challenging courses delivered in classes small enough for teachers to know their students. 


We offer a small, community-based, all-girls schooling option for families interested in STEM education and whole-child learning. GEMS is an independent, non-profit charter corporation with its own staff, budget, and governing board of directors drawn from across the Las Vegas community.


Role Definition: The School Aide Staff position is an hourly (non-exempt) position reporting to the Assistant Principal/School Sustainability Manager. The School Aide Staff person performs a variety of activities to ensure the school runs effectively for the students, teachers, Administration, and staff on a daily basis. The role also supports overall school goals and objectives as determined by the Principal.


Primary Responsibilities:

Breakfast preparation (warming up, not cooking), distribution of food, supervision of students, and cleanup. 

Lunch preparation (warming up, not cooking), distribution of food, supervision of students, and cleanup.

Health Office maintenance and stocking for supplies including following reordering procedures.

Working with staff and Counselor to ensure a safe process is followed through the health office when student needs arise.

Front Office Assistance including answering phones, greeting guests, making copies, filing, and general organization.

•Helping with student arrival and dismissal as needed - including checking technology in and out of the building.

•Hours are Monday-Friday, 6:45am - 11:45am excluding school breaks and holidays.



Qualifications:

•High school diploma or equivalent.

•Background check including fingerprints with acceptable Certificate of Clearance.

•Demonstrates passion for supporting at risk students in opening up to their full potential.

•Demonstrates good judgment; approachable and professional; solid problem-solving skills; self-motivated; well organized.


Preferred Qualifications:

• Bilingual - English/Spanish.



Salary

$12 - $13 per hour
