Position Summary

Blueline Ventures is seeking an MBA Portfolio Operations Associate to step directly into the operating side of our business with the express goal of developing into a Chief Operating Officer and, ultimately, a Chief Executive Officer of a portfolio company.

You will be embedded inside newly acquired businesses, working alongside company leadership and Blueline partners to run day-to-day operations, drive growth initiatives, and implement best practices.

Our model is simple: we acquire promising companies, place talented operators like you to help run and grow them and support you with experienced mentors every step of the way. Over time, you may rotate across multiple portfolio companies as they are acquired, or remain with a single business long-term if you are thriving and fulfilled.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Leadership

Partner with company GMs and CEO’s to execute strategic and operational priorities.

  • Oversee daily operations across sales, finance, HR, marketing, and supply chain.
  • Implement systems, processes, and KPIs that professionalize and scale the business.
  • Manage teams, recruit talent, and build organizational culture.
  • Growth & Value Creation
  • Identify and drive initiatives to improve efficiency, expand margins, and fuel growth.
  • Lead cross-functional projects to modernize and optimize acquired businesses.
  • Develop business plans and present results directly to boards and investors.
  • Leadership Development
  • Take ownership of P&L responsibility.
  • Prepare to assume COO -level authority within a portfolio company.
  • Grow into a CEO role within 5–7 years, with Blueline’s mentorship and backing.

Qualifications

  • MBA degree (2025-2026 graduates encouraged to apply).
  • 1-3 years of pre-MBA professional experience in consulting, investment banking, corporate development, or operating roles.
  • Demonstrated leadership potential and strong ambition to run a business.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and willingness to be hands-on in company operations.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and execution skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities; proven capability leading teams.
  • Willingness and enthusiasm to be onsite at portfolio companies (travel or relocation may be required).
