Leveling & Path to Leadership
We are intentionally recruiting for one position that will be leveled as either a Development Coordinator or a Development Manager based on the selected candidate's depth of professional experience and proven portfolio of success. Regardless of the starting title, Black Mamas ATX is committed to your long-term career growth.
- Development Coordinator ($60,000 – $64,000): Ideal for a rising professional with 1–3 years of experience. Focus is on implementation, data integrity, and organized grant tracking/reporting. Success is measured by accuracy, timeliness, and support of senior leadership in fundraising goals.
- Development Manager ($65,000 – $75,000): Ideal for a seasoned fundraiser with 4+ years of experience and a proven track record that includes:
- Directly managing or contributing to an annual revenue goal of $500,000 – $1M+.
- Successfully securing individual grant awards in the $25,000 – $100,000+ range.
- Management of a donor portfolio/pipeline of 50–100+ active prospects.
- Proven track record in forging new philanthropic partnerships and increasing year-over-year donor retention.
The Path Forward: For candidates hired at the Coordinator level, we provide a clear internal track toward the Manager title. This promotion is based on demonstrated mastery of the development lifecycle, consistent achievement of fundraising milestones, and professional progress, supported by mentorship and organizational investment in your continuing education.
Key Responsibilities
1. Comprehensive Grant & Report Management
- Research & Strategy: Identify and vet new foundation, corporate, and government funding opportunities aligned with maternal health and racial equity.
- Proposal Leadership: Draft compelling proposals and letters of inquiry (LOIs). (Coordinator level will lead drafting and submission; Manager level will also lead strategy).
- Reporting & Compliance: Serve as the primary point of contact for all grant reporting. Track programmatic data and impact metrics to ensure 100% compliance with funder requirements.
- Grant Calendar: Maintain a rigorous, centralized grant calendar for all submissions and reports.
2. Donor Stewardship & Individual Giving
- CRM Management: Oversee the donor database, ensuring accurate data entry and wealth screening.
- Communications: Manage the annual appeal calendar, recurring gift programs, and peer-to-peer campaigns (e.g., Amplify Austin).
- Stewardship: Ensure every donor feels the impact of their gift through personalized touchpoints and impact updates.
3. Fundraising Events & Partnerships
- Logistics: Provide administrative and logistical leadership for fundraising events and community-facing campaigns.
- Corporate Engagement: Assist in pitching and securing corporate sponsorships and community partnerships.
Qualifications
- Mission Alignment: A deep commitment to Black maternal health and reproductive justice.
- Communication: Exceptional writing and storytelling skills; ability to translate data into compelling impact reports.
- Technical Savvy: Proficiency in Google Workspace and donor CRM software. Familiarity with Monday.com is a plus.
- Autonomy: Ability to work effectively in a fully remote environment, meeting strict deadlines without constant supervision.
- Preferred Credentials: Possession of (or active progress toward) a professional fundraising credential, such as the CFRE, CFRM, or a specialized Grant Writing/Management Certification.
