The Kids Elementary Coordinator will work closely with the Next Gen Director to help Zion Church see the lost saved, saved ignited, and world changed, starting with the next generation. This role serves as the primary execution leader for Zion Kids Elementary (Kindergarten–5th Grade), ensuring every Sunday environment, volunteer team, family interaction, and leadership pipeline operates with excellence while aligning with the vision established by and in collaboration with the Next Gen Director. This role owns Elementary Kids Ministry for grades K–5, including K–5th Grade classrooms and volunteers, the Junior Leadership Program (JLP), Best Buddies (Special Needs Ministry), and Guest Experience. What we do in Zion Kids is not childcare; it's church. We believe there is no junior Holy Spirit. We are passionate about creating environments where kids encounter God, experience the power of the Holy Spirit, and begin living out their faith. This role exists to ensure those moments happen with excellence every single Sunday, from our youngest kindergartners responding to God for the first time in worship to our oldest elementary students learning to serve and lead others. Our goal is to raise a generation of kids who live, love, and look like Jesus.

A great Kids Elementary Coordinator is a builder of people first and a manager of programs second. They love kids, but they love developing leaders even more. They hold a high view of what happens in a K–5th Grade classrooms on a Sunday, not childcare, but church and carry a deep belief that parents, not the church, are the primary spiritual influence in a child's life. They are organized, relationally warm, and steady under the pressure of a live Sunday environment.
Success in this role looks like creating a ministry where:
- Every child experiences a safe, engaging, and Spirit-led environment each Sunday.
- Volunteers are recruited, developed, cared for, and equipped to lead with excellence.
- Parents feel known, supported, and equipped as the primary spiritual influence in their child's life.
- The Junior Leadership Program and Best Buddies continue to grow as healthy pathways for discipleship and leadership.
- Elementary Ministry operates with consistency, organization, and excellence while continually developing future leaders.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Elementary Classrooms & Volunteers (Kindergarten–5th Grade)
- Lead the weekly execution of K–5th Grade environments, including worship, teaching, and craft, from set-up through tear-down.
- Ensure classrooms, supplies, curriculum, technology, and ministry environments are fully prepared before each weekend.
- Recruit, train, schedule, and shepherd K–5th Grade volunteers while building and developing a healthy team of Team Leads.
- Ensure curriculum is implemented with excellence and consistency across all classrooms, helping kids respond to God through worship and live out their faith through serving.
- Ensure compliance with safety and child protection policies.
Volunteer Leadership & Development
- Coach and develop Team Leads to cultivate healthy volunteer leadership across every classroom.
- Build a culture of encouragement, feedback, celebration, and ongoing leadership development.
- Identify, mentor, and develop future ministry leaders from within the volunteer team.
Junior Leadership Program (JLP)
- Own the design and weekly operation of JLP, creating a pathway for kids to grow into servant leaders.
- Recruit, train, shepherd, and coordinate JLP participants in meaningful serving opportunities.
Best Buddies (Special Needs Ministry)
- Oversee care and inclusion for kids with special needs, including individualized planning with families.
- Recruit, train, and support Best Buddies volunteers.
Guest Experience
- Oversee the Kids Guest Experience team to ensure every new family is warmly welcomed from their very first Sunday.
- Develop and maintain a simple process for guest follow-up and assimilation into classrooms.
Parent Communication & Partnership
- Serve as the primary point of contact for K–5th Grade parents.
- Communicate regularly with parents and equip them as the primary spiritual leaders in their child's lives.
Collaboration
- Collaborate with the Next Gen Director, Kids Early Childhood Coordinator, and other ministry leaders to support church-wide initiatives, Next Gen strategy, and a unified family ministry experience.
WHAT A TYPICAL WEEK LOOKS LIKE
Part-Time – 29 hours per week
Required In-Person Schedule:
- Sundays (7-3 PM)
- Tuesdays (8:30-4:30 PM)
- Thursdays (8:30-4:30 PM)
Additional flexibility may be required during Easter, Christmas, VBS, and other major church events, with hours balanced within part-time expectations.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- A growing, personal relationship with Jesus and alignment with Zion Church's Statement of Faith and Theological Distinctives.
- 1–2+ years of experience leading in Kids or Next Gen Ministry.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to recruit, train, retain, and develop volunteers.
- Ability to lead and coordinate multiple ministry areas simultaneously.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in children's ministry, child development, or elementary education.
- Experience serving or working with children with special needs.
- Experience developing a student or youth leadership pipeline.

COMPENSATION
Employment Status: Part-Time (29 hours per week)
Hourly Rate: $25–29 per hour, depending on experience, leadership capacity, and qualifications.
