The Shipping Manager is responsible for supervising and coordinating activities of workers concerned with picking product and preparing it for same day shipping both nationally and internationally via expedited carrier services.
Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Determining work procedures, prepare work schedules, and expedite workflow
- Managing warehouse space, inventory and storage
- Issuing written and oral instructions
- Assigning duties and examining work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures
- Studying and standardizing procedures to improve efficiency of workers
- Maintaining harmony among workers and resolving grievances
- Interviewing and hiring new employees
- Conferring with other managers in the distribution center to ensure coordination of other warehouse activities
- Ensuring the proper receiving procedures are used for control of shortagesÂ
- Managing the receiving process (on site and off); verifies all material deliveries according to Company standards
- Conferring with other managers outside of the distribution center to ensure coordination of other functions such as production, inventory management and quality assurance
- Ensuring correct shipment of international orders and hazardous material orders
- Identifying employees’ skills and developing them by coaching and counseling employees on a regular basis
- Conducting annual performance reviews and providing continual feedback on both positive and negative performance
- Performing other duties as assigned
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
High school diploma, GED certificate, or demonstration of sufficient reading and math skills to read manuals and prepare computer reports as required
Previous management experience preferred
Strong communication skills in order to train and motivate employees
Strong time management skills and attention to deal with a variety of duties and prepare reports according to schedule
Ability to visually use all Purchase Codes and other shipping documentation
Salary
$13 - $25 per hour
