The Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing safety programs to ensure a safe and healthy work environment for all employees, contractors, and visitors. The role involves monitoring compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations, identifying potential hazards, conducting risk assessments, and providing training and guidance to staff on safety protocols.

Description

  • Safety Program Management:
  • Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies and procedures in line with OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) standards and other relevant safety regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local safety laws and regulations.
  • Promote a safety culture within the organization through continuous improvement of safety standards.
  • Conduct safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments across various departments.
  • Training and Education:
  • Develop and deliver safety training programs, including orientation, ongoing education, and special safety procedures for high-risk activities.
  • Ensure employees understand and adhere to safety practices, emergency response plans, and equipment safety usage.
  • Organize and lead safety drills (e.g., fire drills, evacuation drills) and manage emergency preparedness programs.
  • Accident and Incident Investigation:
  • Lead investigations into accidents, injuries, and near misses to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate records of all safety-related incidents and ensure timely reporting to regulatory agencies as required.
  • Track and analyze accident reports to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Safety Reporting and Compliance:
  • Maintain up-to-date safety records, including OSHA logs and reports, injury and illness documentation, and safety training certifications.
  • Prepare and submit safety-related reports to senior management and regulatory authorities.
  • Ensure the company meets all legal safety requirements and audits.
  • Risk Assessment and Hazard Identification:
  • Conduct regular site inspections and assessments to identify potential hazards and risks.
  • Evaluate work environments, tools, and equipment for safety compliance and recommend improvements.
  • Assist in developing risk mitigation strategies and emergency action plans.
  • Safety Equipment and Materials Management:
  • Oversee the procurement and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE), safety devices, and first-aid supplies.
  • Ensure that safety equipment is properly maintained, tested, and available for use.
  • Continuous Improvement:
  • Keep up to date with industry trends, best practices, and new safety regulations.
  • Recommend and implement changes to improve safety performance and reduce workplace accidents.
  • Encourage employee participation in safety committees and initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field (preferred).
  • Certification such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST), or equivalent (preferred).
  • At least 5 years of experience in safety management or a similar role, preferably in Construction/Manufacturing.
  • Knowledge & Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards.
  • Ability to perform risk assessments and hazard analyses.
  • Familiarity with emergency response procedures and first-aid protocols.
  • Proficient in safety management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to educate and influence employees at all levels.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Certifications:
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction or General Industry certification (preferred).
  • First Aid/CPR certification (preferred).
  • Other relevant safety certifications.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to conduct regular site inspections and walk the premises.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary.





Salary

$20 - $30 per hour
