Position Overview
We are seeking a seasoned and ambitious Architect of Record (AOR) to join our team and play a critical leadership role in shaping the future of housing. This role blends technical rigor, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and long-term strategic growth. You’ll be responsible for ensuring compliance of our modular housing systems with all applicable codes, managing documentation for submission to the Arizona Department of Housing (ADOH) and other state authorities and leading the evolution of our internal design capabilities.
This is a high-impact role reporting directly to the Director of Product Development, working closely with engineering, procurement, manufacturing, specifications, and sales. You will manage 1–3 active modular housing projects at a time across various stages of development, and build out your dream design team over time.
Key Responsibilities
● Serve as Architect of Record for ZenniHome’s modular product lines. ● Stamp and seal drawing sets for ADOH submission and other AHJs as required. ● Verify code compliance across IRC, IBC, IECC, ADA, energy codes, and state modular regulations.
● Own the QA/QC process, ensuring accuracy and constructability with robust support from engineering and manufacturing.
● Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, procurement, and manufacturing to ensure that product design aligns with modular and factory construction best practices.
● Manage and mentor a junior architectural designer (who will require support toward licensure) and an overseas drafting team.
● Lead architecture during concept, DD, and CD phases, ensuring manufacturability, regulatory compliance, and design intent.
● Play a central role in product refinement to improve cost, schedule, and quality performance across ZenniHome’s offerings.
●Oversee or contribute to project submittals, code narratives, factory set integration, and modular-specific documentation.
● Maintain active architectural licensure and provide stamping for state approvals.
Qualifications
● Licensed Architect in Arizona (or eligible for reciprocity). ZenniHome will assist with licensure support for qualified candidates and is expanding into NM, CA, UT, ID, and CO. ● Minimum 6 years of architectural experience, including 2+ years as AOR on residential or modular projects.
● Experience with IRC, IBC, ADA, and energy codes required
● Proficient in Revit, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, and other relevant design softwares ● Comfortable leading documentation teams and reviewing for code and manufacturability.
● Manufacturing experience is not required, but willingness to learn is essential.
● Able to manage complexity, timelines, and competing priorities across multiple projects.
● Excited to be a self-starter and your own boss within a collaborative, supportive structure.
Licensing & Insurance
ZenniHome requires licensing in Arizona and is expanding into New Mexico, Idaho, California, Utah, and Colorado. For the right candidate, we will provide reciprocity and licensing support. We understand the complexity of professional liability insurance and will work with you to ensure appropriate coverage—whether through company-held policies or financial support for your own.
Work Location & Travel
This role is based in Snowflake, AZ, with flexibility for travel. For the right candidate, ZenniHome may accommodate a remote work arrangement, with consistent travel to the Page factory for site coordination and manufacturing alignment.
Compensation & Growth Path
Competitive compensation with full benefits. Performance-based growth path with opportunities to expand into further leadership roles. Over time, the AOR will have the opportunity to shape and build their internal design team, including drafting, architectural, and MEP.
