Youth RISE Foundation (Resources • Inspiration • Service • Empowerment) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering youth and young adults through leadership development, mentorship, education, workforce readiness, healthcare career exploration, civic engagement, and community impact initiatives.

We are seeking an experienced USMLE & Residency Coach to mentor medical students and graduates throughout their journey from the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) through the residency Match process.

Overview

The USMLE & Residency Coach provides individualized coaching and mentorship to medical students and graduates preparing for USMLE Step 1, Step 2 CK, Step 3, and the residency application process. Working on a per diem basis, this role supports learners through exam preparation, study planning, clinical readiness, residency application development, ERAS and NRMP guidance, interview preparation, and career planning to help maximize success in obtaining residency training.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one coaching for USMLE Step 1, Step 2 CK, and Step 3 preparation.
  • Develop individualized study plans and testing timelines.
  • Teach effective study strategies, time management, and test-taking techniques.
  • Review practice examinations and identify areas for improvement.
  • Assist with residency specialty selection and career planning.
  • Guide students through the ERAS application process.
  • Review personal statements, CVs, and residency application materials.
  • Prepare applicants for residency interviews through mock interviews and coaching.
  • Advise students on the NRMP Match process and ranking strategies.
  • Connect students with educational resources, mentorship opportunities, and professional development resources.
  • Conduct workshops and informational sessions on residency preparation and physician career development.
  • Maintain accurate coaching documentation and monitor participant progress.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MD or DO degree required.
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited residency program preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of USMLE examinations, ERAS, NRMP, and residency admissions.
  • Experience mentoring, teaching, tutoring, or advising medical students.
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to mentor students from diverse educational and cultural backgrounds.
