We are seeking a compassionate and resourceful Housing Specialist to assist youth and young adults in accessing safe, stable, and affordable housing while connecting them with supportive community resources.

Overview

The Housing Specialist provides individualized housing navigation and case management support to participants experiencing housing instability or seeking independent living opportunities. Working on a per diem basis, this role helps individuals identify housing options, understand lease agreements, access financial assistance programs, and connect with local housing providers and community resources to promote long-term housing stability.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct housing needs assessments and develop individualized housing plans.
  • Assist participants with locating affordable housing opportunities.
  • Connect individuals with emergency, transitional, and permanent housing resources.
  • Educate participants on tenant rights, lease agreements, and housing responsibilities.
  • Assist with housing applications and supporting documentation.
  • Connect participants to rental assistance, utility assistance, and other housing-related programs.
  • Build relationships with landlords, housing agencies, and community organizations.
  • Coordinate referrals to supportive services, including employment, education, healthcare, and financial counseling.
  • Maintain accurate case notes, documentation, and participant records.
  • Participate in outreach events and community resource fairs as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Services, Public Administration, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience in housing navigation, case management, homelessness services, or community resource coordination.
  • Knowledge of affordable housing programs, housing assistance resources, and landlord-tenant practices.
  • Strong communication, advocacy, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience with case management systems and Microsoft Office or Google Workspace is preferred.
