About Yona Capital Management

Yona Capital manages several family offices and funds, and is a licensed real estate brokerage. Our focus is in real estate and tax liens. Our mission is to find investment strategies that offer asymmetric risk-reward profiles and manage them on behalf of our clients. Most low risk investment strategies offer low returns day in and day out, while most high return strategies are often very risky in the worst case. We seek low risk and high returns. This has led us away from overpriced assets and look where we can acquire assets at significant discount to net asset value with high fidelity.

About the Role

Yona Capital Management is a Miami Beach–based investment firm managing a multi-million-dollar fund focused on tax lien certificates. We are looking for a Chief Investment Officer (CIO), reporting directly to the CEO, to lead the fund’s investment strategy and oversee every stage of the investment process, from sourcing and underwriting through bidding, redemptions, and tax deed outcomes.

As CIO, you will set the fund’s underwriting standards, bidding limits, and yield targets, and make final decisions on which liens to pursue and at what price. You will lead and mentor our Investment Analyst, review their due diligence and “bid up to” values, and direct bidding at county auctions and in secondary market offerings. This role is for a seasoned tax lien investor who wants to shape and grow a fund.

What You’ll Do

  • Set and execute the fund’s investment strategy across county auctions and secondary market offerings
  • Define due diligence criteria, underwriting standards, bidding limits, and yield thresholds
  • Review and approve the Investment Analyst’s valuations and “bid up to” values, and direct bid submissions
  • Allocate capital across states, counties, and opportunities to balance return and risk
  • Monitor the portfolio, including redemptions, delinquencies, and the path to tax deed where applicable
  • Lead and mentor the Investment Analyst and coordinate with internal team members on auction outcomes and follow-up
  • Ensure compliance with county rules, state statutes, and company protocols
  • Report on fund performance, pipeline, and risk to the CEO
  • Attend in-person and online auctions as needed (occasional travel may be required)

What You’ll Bring

  • 5+ years of proven experience buying tax lien certificates
  • A track record of profitable tax lien investing, with knowledge of redemption, foreclosure, and tax deed processes
  • Deep understanding of auction formats and state-by-state tax lien and tax deed rules
  • Strong real estate valuation and underwriting skills
  • Experience managing capital responsibly within defined limits and risk parameters
  • Sound judgment and the ability to make quick, well-reasoned decisions in fast-paced auction environments
  • Advanced Excel skills and comfort working with large data sets
  • Leadership experience and strong communication and organizational skills
  • A high degree of integrity, reliability, and accountability

Nice to Have

  • Experience managing or co-managing a tax lien fund or similar real estate investment vehicle
  • Experience with tax deed acquisitions and property disposition
  • Background in real estate underwriting, credit analysis, or financial services
  • Established relationships with county tax collectors, servicers, or secondary market sellers

What We Offer

  • Salary of $120,000 – $250,000, based on experience, and/or equity
  • 20 days of paid vacation per year
  • Leadership of the investment strategy for a multi-million-dollar fund
  • The opportunity to build and shape the fund’s growth

Salary

$120,000 - $250,000 per year
