Yona Capital Management, based in Miami Beach, is hiring a Chief Investment Officer for its multi-million-dollar tax lien certificate fund. The CIO reports to the CEO and leads the fund’s investment strategy. That means setting underwriting standards, bidding limits, and yield targets, deciding how to allocate capital, and overseeing the portfolio through redemptions and tax deed outcomes. The CIO also leads the Investment Analyst, approves their “bid up to” values, and directs bidding at auctions and in secondary markets. Candidates need 5+ years of proven experience buying tax lien certificates, along with strong valuation, risk management, and leadership skills. Occasional travel may be required. The role pays $120,000 to $250,000 and/or equity, with 20 days of paid vacation.
Yona Capital manages several family offices and funds, and is a licensed real estate brokerage. Our focus is in real estate and tax liens. Our mission is to find investment strategies that offer asymmetric risk-reward profiles and manage them on behalf of our clients. Most low risk investment strategies offer low returns day in and day out, while most high return strategies are often very risky in the worst case. We seek low risk and high returns. This has led us away from overpriced assets and look where we can acquire assets at significant discount to net asset value with high fidelity.
About the Role
Yona Capital Management is a Miami Beach–based investment firm managing a multi-million-dollar fund focused on tax lien certificates. We are looking for a Chief Investment Officer (CIO), reporting directly to the CEO, to lead the fund’s investment strategy and oversee every stage of the investment process, from sourcing and underwriting through bidding, redemptions, and tax deed outcomes.
As CIO, you will set the fund’s underwriting standards, bidding limits, and yield targets, and make final decisions on which liens to pursue and at what price. You will lead and mentor our Investment Analyst, review their due diligence and “bid up to” values, and direct bidding at county auctions and in secondary market offerings. This role is for a seasoned tax lien investor who wants to shape and grow a fund.
