About Us

We are a Texas-based law firm focused on probate and estate planning, committed to guiding families through the legal process with clarity, empathy, and efficiency. We are currently seeking an experienced Pre-Trial Probate Paralegal to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience preparing probate cases for hearing and a strong working knowledge of the Texas Estates Code and local probate court procedures.


Position Summary

As a Pre-Trial Probate Paralegal, you will be responsible for managing probate matters from intake through initial hearing to open a probate administration. You will assist with file organization, client onboarding, drafting and filing pleadings, witness coordination, hearing preparation, and court correspondence. Your work will directly support attorneys in getting probate cases ready for court and ensuring compliance with all statutory deadlines and procedural requirements.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage probate case files from intake through the hearing stage, including independent administrations, dependent administrations, heirship proceedings, and muniments of title.
  • Draft and file initial pleadings and supporting documents (e.g., applications, notices, waivers, proposed orders, witness affidavits).
  • Coordinate publication of notice and confirm completion of citation and posting requirements with court clerks.
  • Schedule and confirm court hearings and track statutory deadlines.
  • Draft and send correspondence to clients, beneficiaries, proposed executors/administrators, and witnesses.
  • Prepare proposed hearing packets including orders, oaths, proofs of death, and other supporting exhibits.
  • Conduct interviews with disinterested and credible witnesses and prepare supporting affidavits for heirship and will admission.
  • Assist with locating missing witnesses or heirs and coordinating service when needed.
  • Maintain detailed and organized case notes and task tracking to ensure all hearing prerequisites are met.
  • Prepare court filing checklists and double-check that all necessary documents are filed and accepted before hearings.
  • Provide support to attorneys for last-minute hearing preparation needs or continuances.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of probate paralegal experience in Texas, with a focus on hearing preparation and probate pleadings.
  • In-depth understanding of Texas probate procedures and relevant statutes.
  • Strong writing, editing, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple active cases and meet tight pre-hearing deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and legal practice software (e.g., Clio, MyCase, or equivalent).
  • Experience communicating with clients and court personnel in a professional, courteous manner.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; paralegal certificate or associate’s degree preferred.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or ABA-approved paralegal certificate.
  • Familiarity with Bexar County and surrounding probate courts.
  • Experience preparing witness affidavits and coordinating publication of notices.
  • Notary Public certification (If not currently a notary, must be eligible for certification)

Salary

$20 - $35 per hour
