Pay: $21.38 to $26.04 an hour, depending on skill. We are hiring at Apprentice, Painter I and Painter II. Your starting rung is set by a written and hands-on test, not by years.

Wyatt & Sons Painting is a residential and commercial painting and maintenance company in Tacoma. Our crew are employees, not subs, and we pay their full medical, dental and vision. We promote from within, and every pay rate in the company is open to the crew.

The job

Interior and exterior repaints on homes and commercial buildings within about an hour of Tacoma. That means prep, masking, caulking, priming, brushing, rolling and spraying, plus washing, gutters and roof treatment on some jobs. You'll work on a small crew and leave every job cleaner than you found it.

How pay works here

Wages follow a ladder, with each rung set as a share of the Pierce County union journeyman rate. You move up by passing our skill tests (46 written standards, each with a timed test) and by showing up ready to work. Skill and reliability move your pay, not tenure.

• Apprentice: $21.38
• Painter I: $23.45
• Painter II: $26.04
• Journeyman: $30.69 (by promotion)
• Lead $35.86 and Foreman $42.58 (by promotion)

Schedule

Full-time. Most jobs run 7:00 to 3:30 or 8:00 to 4:30, Monday to Friday. As we take on more commercial work, some jobs run nights or weekends; those hours pay your regular rate, with overtime at time and a half. On time here means clocked in and ready 5 minutes before start.

Requirements

• Professional painting experience: at least a year for Painter I, several for Painter II
• Own vehicle, insurance and driver's license, and able to get to job sites with your tools
• Eligible to work in the US
• Able to pass a drug test (WA-friendly drug policy)
• Able to lift, push, pull and carry 50 lbs
• Able to use phone apps for clocking in, job setup and communication
• Pride in clean lines and clean jobsites
• English proficiency; bilingual a plus
