Description

Core Responsibilities

  • Store Operations & Leadership: Assist the Store Manager with opening/closing procedures, inventory management, point-of-sale (POS) operations, and maintaining a clean, secure, and welcoming retail floor.
  • TCG Inventory & Pricing: Oversee singles intake, grading, pricing, and buy/sell/trade evaluations using market data (TCGplayer, etc.). Maintain organized inventory across sealed product and single cards.
  • Event Coordination: Help plan, schedule, and run in-store events, pre-releases, weekly tournaments (such as Commander nights or weekly locals), and special release days. Act as a head judge or tournament organizer when needed.
  • Customer Engagement & Community Building: Foster a welcoming, inclusive environment for players and collectors of all skill levels. Provide expert recommendations on card sets, deck-building, and accessories.
  • E-Commerce & Fulfillment: Support online order fulfillment, platform management, and accurate cataloging of singles and sealed inventory for local pickup and shipping.
  • Staff Mentorship: Lead by example on the sales floor, guiding staff on product knowledge, customer service standards, and efficient card-sorting workflows.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Deep TCG Expertise: Comprehensive, firsthand knowledge of major trading card games (Magic: The Gathering, Pokémon, One Piece, Lorcana), including meta awareness, product lineups, and community culture.
  • Retail Experience: 1 to 2 years of experience in retail, customer service, or store management—hobby game store experience is a massive plus.
  • Card Evaluation Skills: Proficiency in rapidly sorting, grading condition (Near Mint, Lightly Played, etc.), and pricing single cards accurately.
  • Strong Communication: Excellent interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills to handle busy event environments, customer inquiries, and community moderation.
  • Technical Aptitude: Comfortable with retail POS systems, and basic web applications.
  • Scheduling Flexibility: Ability to work weekends, evenings, and major release-day events as required by a hobby retail schedule.


Salary

$19 - $20 per hour
