Low Voltage Technician
Job Duties
As a Low Voltage Technician, you will be responsible for installing, servicing, and supporting a variety of commercial low voltage systems. Your responsibilities include:
- Install and service access control, video surveillance, intrusion alarm, fire alarm, and structured cabling systems.
- Install, terminate, label, and test low voltage cabling.
- Mount and install cameras, card readers, door hardware, alarm devices, and network equipment.
- Read blueprints, floor plans, and wiring diagrams.
- Perform equipment testing, commissioning, and basic system programming.
- Troubleshoot system issues and complete service calls.
- Maintain accurate project documentation and service reports.
- Keep company vehicles, tools, and job sites clean and organized.
- Communicate professionally with customers, coworkers, and project managers.
- Follow all company safety procedures and industry best practices.
Requirements
- 2 to 5 years of commercial low voltage installation experience.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work from ladders and lifts.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong work ethic with dependable attendance.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to use smartphones, tablets, and basic computer software.
- Willingness to travel to customer sites throughout Central Indiana.
Desired Skills
Experience with one or more of the following is preferred, but not required:
- Commercial access control systems
- Video surveillance systems
- Intrusion alarm systems
- Fire alarm systems
- Structured cabling
- Fiber optic cabling
- Commercial networking
- Cable testing and troubleshooting
- Reading construction drawings and wiring diagrams
- Basic system programming and commissioning
