  • Woolsey Morcom is looking to expand our growing family law practice. We are currently seeking an Associate Attorney with a minimum of 3 years of litigation experience to represent clients in a broad range of Florida family law matters, including dissolution of marriage, child custody and time-sharing, child support, alimony, equitable distribution, paternity, modification, enforcement, and related proceedings.


  • Compensation package TBD based on experience.


Responsibilities

  • Represent clients in Florida family law matters, including divorce, paternity, parental responsibility, parenting plans, time-sharing, child support, alimony, equitable distribution, modifications, enforcement, and contempt proceedings
  • Draft, review, and argue motions, pleadings, petitions, responses, proposed orders, settlement agreements, parenting plans, financial affidavits, and other family law filings
  • Manage discovery and mandatory disclosure, including financial affidavits, production requests, interrogatories, requests for admissions, subpoenas, and document review
  • Analyze financial records and case materials related to income, assets, liabilities, child support, alimony, and equitable distribution
  • Prepare clients for hearings, mediation, depositions, settlement conferences, and trial
  • Take and defend depositions as needed
  • Coordinate with expert witnesses and professionals, including forensic accountants, business valuation experts, real estate appraisers, vocational experts, guardians ad litem, parenting coordinators, and mental health professionals, as appropriate
  • Attend and advocate for clients at mediations, temporary relief hearings, motion hearings, evidentiary hearings, final hearings, and non-jury trials
  • Communicate regularly with clients, opposing counsel, court staff, and the internal legal team to move cases forward efficiently and professionally
  • Develop case strategy in collaboration with partners, paralegals, and support staff
  • Maintain accurate case files, deadlines, billing entries, and client communications
  • Attending mediation and settlement conferences


Qualifications

  • The successful candidate will have 3+ years of litigation experience in Florida
  • Must be an active member in good standing with The Florida Bar
  • Courtroom experience required; experience handling hearings, mediations, depositions, and trials preferred
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal communication and client counseling skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive and emotionally charged matters with professionalism, empathy, and discretion
  • Deadline- and detail-oriented, with strong organizational and case management skills
  • Desire to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced litigation practice
  • Occasional travel required throughout Florida
