The LA Education Program Manager will help WAM launch a new education location in Los Angeles, provide educational and administrative oversight as well as some instruction for our expanding Los Angeles educational programming.

Compensation Range: $70,000 to $80,000 annually

Work Location: Hybrid @ home and WAM Los Angeles offices and studios. Some regional travel and occasional national travel.


Position Summary

Reporting to the Executive Director (ED), the LA Education Program Manager will help WAM launch a new education location in Los Angeles, provide educational and administrative oversight as well as some instruction for our expanding Los Angeles educational programming. This includes the WAM Academy Classes, Pro Tools Certification, Dolby Atmos Certification as well as the Internship Program and support for WAM’s professional conference: WAMCon. The ideal candidate has 3-5 years of professional audio industry experience as well as relevant educational experience. This role also includes managing contract instructors and interns.  The successful applicant will be someone who is passionate about WAM’s mission of advancing women, girls and gender-expansive individuals in the fields of music, media and technology through our award-winning training programs.


Primary Objectives and Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and oversee the implementation and evaluation of WAM’s education programs in the Los Angeles region that align with the organization's mission and goals. 
  • Perform outreach and manage schedules of contract instructors, interns, guest speakers and panelists needed for Los Angeles Adult classes and programming.
  • Secure studios, venues and education spaces to host WAM educational programming as needed
  • Provide  audio production instruction.
  • Oversee and specify audio and educational technology needed for programming.
  • Provide monthly reporting on program outcomes (enrollments, retention, revenue) and provide plans to address any gaps in meeting program goals and outputs.
  • Manage the Los Angeles education program budget, ensuring financial resources are allocated efficiently and effectively to support program goals
  • Create and maintain program documentation such as annual calendar, course learning outcomes, syllabi, guiding questions for panels, etc.
  • Support Los Angeles WAMCon conference programming and logistics, including contracts, scheduling, and communications with attendees.
  • Engage with program participants, beneficiaries, and community members to gather input, feedback, and insights for program enhancement
  • Work with Marketing to describe, post, promote, and sell courses and workshops to meet annual income goals
  • Build and maintain relationships with industry professionals, audio manufacturers, recording studios, venues, audio production companies, music industry, local educational partners, organizations, and other stakeholders; collaborate with external partners to enhance program offerings


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
  • 3-5 years of audio industry experience
  • Some instructional experience in a classroom setting, with youth, adults, or in higher education.
  • Experience creating course syllabi and lesson plans.
  • Self-starter
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Some non-profit experience strongly preferred


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, work, and travel from one location to another.
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often sitting or standing for prolonged periods
  • Prolonged periods working on a computer
  • Communicating with others to exchange information
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at a time
