Department: Marketing
Reports To: VP of Marketing
Location: Austin, TX
About the Role
The Head of Content & Storytelling owns WIN’s proof engine. Parents buy only after outside validation — from coaches, peers, and reviews — and today nobody is capturing the stories that provide it. This role does.
WIN’s marketing is built on a ladder: make the team, move up the lineup, make a better team, get recruited. At every rung, from rec ball to the pros, players and parents need to see aspiration from one or two rungs up, peers at their own level, and a parent’s voice. You’ll capture those stories — family, commit, and coach stories — and turn them into content that drives action.
You’ll also direct the long-form athlete stories and the campaign spine video behind our annual brand campaign. Success is measured by a steady flow of real stories that move players, parents, and coaches to buy.
Key Responsibilities
The Proof Engine
- Build and run a repeatable system for capturing proof stories at every rung of the ladder: pro, college, showcase, premier high school and academy, travel, and rec.
- Find and develop family, commit, and coach stories, working with sales, SmartPark data, and our partners.
- Make sure every story names a real signal, shows the fix, and proves the change.
Production & Direction
- Write interviews and scripts, and direct every shoot.
- Lead long-form athlete stories and the campaign spine video for the annual brand campaign.
- Manage the content production partner on budget, schedule, and quality.
Content Strategy & Calendar
- Plan content around the season: proof stories live in April–May, story capture through summer travel and showcases, and the October postseason tentpole.
- Package stories for every channel: social, paid, web, email, and B2B sales.
- Partner with growth to measure which stories drive conversion.
Team Leadership
- Lead and coach the Social & Community Manager.
- Set the creative bar for everything WIN publishes.
Team & Structure
- One direct report: Social & Community Manager.
- Extended team: content production partner.
- Reports to the VP of Marketing.
- Close partners: Brand Marketing Manager, Senior Brand Designer, Product Marketing Manager, and Growth Product Manager.
- This is a hands-on role. You’ll be on set, in the edit, and at the field.
Who You Are
- You find the story. You can sit with a 12-year-old, a parent, or a college coach and get the moment that makes people lean in.
- You make stories that drive action. You know the difference between content that gets watched and content that gets someone to buy.
- You build systems. One great story isn’t enough. You build the process that captures dozens.
- You’re a director. You can write, shoot, and edit, and you know how to get the best out of a production partner.
- You know the game. You understand youth baseball and softball, and the families in it.
How Success Is Measured
- Primary KPI: Proof stories captured and published at every rung of the ladder.
- Impact: Conversion and engagement from story content across channels.
- Campaign: Campaign spine video and athlete stories delivered on schedule for each tentpole.
