Wilkinson Staffing Agency (WSA) has an opening for an experienced Project Engineer in Columbus, GA.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


Project Planning and Coordination

  • Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, and other engineers to ensure alignment and efficient execution.
  • Identify project risks and create mitigation strategies to address potential issues.


Technical Design and Analysis

  • Assist in the design and engineering analysis of projects, ensuring technical specifications align with industry and safety standards.
  • Review and approve design calculations, blueprints, and technical drawings.
  • Work with software tools for simulations and modeling to evaluate project feasibility and performance.


Budget and Resource Management

  • Prepare project cost estimates and help manage budgets to ensure that financial resources are used effectively.
  • Coordinate with procurement teams to acquire materials, equipment, and services needed for the project.
  • Track project expenses and provide financial reports to upper management.


Project Execution and Oversight

  • Monitor the construction or implementation phase, ensuring adherence to engineering plans and quality standards.
  • Conduct regular site visits to supervise and assess the progress of work and maintain safety standards.
  • Coordinate with contractors and subcontractors to resolve any technical issues that arise during execution.


Quality Control and Compliance

  • Ensure that the project complies with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as environmental and safety standards.
  • Implement quality control measures to guarantee that all project outputs meet or exceed required specifications.
  • Perform inspections and reviews at key stages of the project to validate compliance and quality.


Collaboration and Communication

  • Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and team members to provide project updates and address concerns.
  • Prepare and present reports, proposals, and documentation for project status meetings.
  • Foster communication between multidisciplinary teams to ensure a seamless workflow.


Problem-Solving and Troubleshooting

  • Address any unforeseen issues or challenges that arise during project development or execution.
  • Implement solutions quickly and effectively to minimize delays and project impact.
  • Collaborate with engineers and specialists to brainstorm and apply solutions to complex problems.


Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain accurate and thorough project documentation, including design files, project timelines, changes, and financial records.
  • Generate and distribute reports on project progress, risks, and completion to stakeholders.
  • Document lessons learned and best practices for future project improvements.


REQUIREMENTS 


Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, or related field). A Master’s degree or professional engineering (PE) license is a plus.


Experience:

Typically 2-5 years of experience in engineering project management or related field. Prior experience in a project engineering role is preferred.


Certifications:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is advantageous.
  • Other relevant certifications (e.g., Six Sigma, LEED) may be beneficial.


Skills:

  • Strong technical and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks.


Technical Knowledge:

  • Proficiency in engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, MATLAB).
  • Understanding of structural analysis, mechanical systems, or electrical circuits, depending on the field of engineering.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to visit job sites and work in field environments.
  • Ability to lift or move items up to 50lbs and wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed.


Working Conditions

  • Work is typically performed in an office environment with occasional travel to project sites, which may be outdoors or in various weather conditions.
  • May require working beyond normal business hours to meet project deadlines or address urgent issues.
