Wilkinson Staffing Agency (WSA) has an opening for an experienced Electrician in Columbus, GA.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


Installation and Setup

  • Install, maintain, and upgrade electrical systems, wiring, outlets, switches, circuit breakers, and other electrical components.
  • Set up electrical panels, lighting, and power supplies to meet client specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams to ensure proper installation of wiring and equipment.


Maintenance and Repairs

  • Inspect electrical systems, identify issues, and conduct preventative maintenance to ensure optimal functioning.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical malfunctions, such as faulty wiring, broken circuits, and power failures.
  • Replace or repair defective parts, such as switches, outlets, and circuit breakers.


Compliance and Safety

  • Ensure all electrical work meets local, state, and federal electrical codes and safety standards.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Keep up to date with changes in electrical codes, standards, and safety regulations.


Testing and Inspection

  • Use testing devices, such as voltmeters and ammeters, to check electrical circuits for continuity, power, and correct installation.
  • Conduct inspections to verify that electrical systems are functioning properly and are free from hazards.
  • Document inspections and work performed for future reference and compliance purposes.


Customer Interaction

  • Provide clear explanations to clients regarding the electrical issues, solutions, and estimated costs.
  • Respond to service calls and emergency situations in a timely manner.
  • Offer advice and recommendations for electrical upgrades or energy efficiency improvements.


Team Collaboration:

  • Work with other electricians and construction teams to complete projects on schedule.
  • Coordinate with contractors, building managers, and other trades to ensure efficient workflow and project completion.


SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS


Education:

High school diploma or GED required; completion of an electrician apprenticeship program or technical school is preferred.


Certification:

Must have a valid electrician's license, which may vary by state or region. Additional certifications such as an OSHA certification may be beneficial.


Experience:

Typically, 2-5 years of experience as an electrician or completion of an apprenticeship program.


Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems and components.
  • Proficiency with electrical tools and testing equipment.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and blueprints.


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in various weather conditions.
  • Stamina to stand, climb, and bend for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity to work with small components and tools.


Working Conditions:

  • Electricians often work in a variety of environments, including residential homes, commercial buildings, factories, and outdoor sites.
  • The work may involve irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, especially for emergency service calls.
  • Electricians may be exposed to potentially hazardous conditions, such as working with live wires or handling heavy equipment.
