Wildwood Outdoor Education Center is seeking a dedicated Maintenance Assistant to help maintain our 150-acre camp. Our facilities include five bunkhouses, a dining hall, a swimming pool, a pond, and multipurpose areas. The Maintenance Assistant is vital in ensuring that our property is well cared for, contributing to a positive and enriching summer experience for all our campers. Description

Responsibilities:

  • Perform seasonal care of grounds including mowing, pond care, road maintenance and snow removal, management of invasive species, and timber management.
  • Help ensure adherence to lagoon management standards including mowing, weir cleaning, and other corrective actions identified in regular inspections.
  • Assist with environmentally responsible waste management practices that maximize recycling possible.
  • Assist with routine maintenance of camp facilities, equipment, and vehicles.
  • Follow all safety procedures and protocols and keep accurate and complete maintenance documentation.


Job Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Maintenance Assistant or similar role is preferred.
  • Ability to use landscaping equipment and power tools.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to prioritize.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.


Work Requirements:

  • Must be 16 years of age or older.
  • Must pass applicable pre-employment background checks.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and ability to pass driver record checks is preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to drive a truck with a trailer attached is preferred.
  • May be regularly required to stand for extended periods of time, sit, talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and perform equipment maintenance.
  • May be required to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in indoor and outdoor settings including the need to navigate irregular terrain and walk a minimum of one mile daily in all weather conditions. 


Work Schedule:

  • Part-time up to 25 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
  • Evening and/or weekend availability may be required for occasional scheduled events or rare unplanned emergencies.

Salary

$15 - $20 per hour
