As a member of the summer camp kitchen staff, you will be responsible for preparing and serving meals for campers and staff, ensuring food safety and cleanliness, and managing kitchen operations during the camp season. You will work closely with the Camp Director and other staff to plan nutritious menus and ensure that all campers have access to food that meets dietary requirements and preferences.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and cook meals for campers and staff, ensuring balanced, nutritious, and appealing meals.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and adhering to food safety regulations.
  • Manage inventory, ensuring the kitchen is well-stocked with ingredients and kitchen supplies.
  • Accommodate dietary restrictions and allergies, ensuring that meals meet individual camper needs.
  • Work with camp leadership to plan and implement special meals for camp events or themed days.
  • Assist with the serving and distribution of meals during breakfast, lunch, and/or dinner.
  • Ensure food is prepared and served on time, in sufficient quantities for all campers and staff.
  • Maintain appropriate food storage procedures to minimize waste and keep food fresh.
  • Clean kitchen equipment and utensils after each meal and maintain a clean working environment.
  • Adhere to camp policies and health regulations regarding food handling, sanitation, and safety.


Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in cooking and meal preparation, preferably in a camp, school, or institutional setting.
  • Ability to prepare meals for large groups, including children with dietary restrictions and food allergies.
  • Strong understanding of food safety practices and regulations.
  • Organized, efficient, and able to manage time effectively in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
  • Friendly, positive attitude with a focus on providing excellent service to campers and staff.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy items (up to 50 lbs.).
  • Ability to pass a background check.

Summer Work Schedule:

First shift is from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Friday and second shift is from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Sunday through Thursday from late May 2025 through early August 2025.

Salary

$15 - $16.5 per hour
