This position serves Queen of the Holy Rosary - Wea School in Bucyrus, Kansas in partnership with Camp Fire Heartland. This role acts as a backup, stepping in when needed to help support the after-school team.
Job Responsibilities:
- Organize and run daily activities like group games, team challenges, STEM projects, and arts & crafts to keep everyone engaged and having a blast.
- Lend a hand when kids need help with their homework, giving them the support they need to succeed.
- Keep an eye on the kids to make sure everyone’s safe and well-supervised, no matter the activity.
- Be aware of and stick to all program and school safety rules to ensure a secure and fun environment.
- Help create a safe, welcoming space where kids can thrive, feel supported, and have fun.
- Stay on top of supplies, equipment, and spaces to ensure everything’s in great shape. Report any issues to the site director.
- Show the kids the ropes by modeling good behavior, following procedures, and keeping the program vibe positive.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
- At least one year of experience working with youth in an educational or childcare setting is a plus.
- First Aid and CPR certification is a plus.
- Passionate and excited about the youth program experience.
- Able to observe and adapt to youth behaviors as needed.
- Collaborate well with team members and communicate openly.
- Flexible and positive in adapting to changing circumstances.
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Must pass a background check and complete required training annually.
- Must be punctual.
Work Schedule: This role acts as a backup, stepping in when needed to help support the after-school team from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m..; Monday through Friday; September through May except when school is closed for holidays, inclement weather, and other activities.
