Childcare Job Posting: Infant & Toddler Teacher
Job Summary
We are seeking Infant & Toddler teachers that are reliable, warm, positive, and professional to join our 4-star learning centers which provide enriched early childhood education to the children of Greater New Orleans. As a Wilcox Academy teacher, we will count on you to focus on families & relationships, environment, supervision, health and safety, curriculum, teaching, child assessment, behavior & guidance, professional development, and collaboration. Requirements
Willing to enroll in a (CDA) Child Development Associate program upon hire and complete program within 6 months and have at least 6 months of experience in teaching in a part day or full day program for infant and toddlers; or
* Currently working on Child Development Associate credential (CDA) and will be complete within 6 months and have at least 6 months of experience in teaching in a part day or full day program for infant and toddlers; or
* Completed a Child Development Associate credential (CDA), an associate degree in child development or early education, a college degree in an appropriate human service or education field (e.g. psychology, special education, music, social work, etc.) including some courses in child development, a college degree in child development or early education and have at least 6 months of experience in teaching in a part day or full day program for infants and toddlers.
* Must have a warm, positive, professional, and supportive attitude and disposition toward working with children and their families.
* Must be reliable.
* Must be flexible in receiving assignments or adapting to changes in the program.
* Must be willing to accept supervision in order to improve work performance.
* Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Must be physically able to perform the job of a teacher of young children.
* Must be a team player.
Responsibilities:
* Promote WAEL's mission in all work and provide an environment where Wilcox Academy's philosophy can foster.
* Ensure the safety and well-being of each child by responding to their emotional, social, and physical needs as well as their educational needs.
* Utilize developmentally appropriate practices and best practice methods at all times.
* Provide excellent customer service according to the standards of WAEL by being customer service oriented and professional.
* Engage children in activities and play that stimulate their development.
* Appropriately supervise children while keeping them safe at all times.
* Assist children with activities of daily life (restroom use, diapering, and hand washing).
* Create and maintain an environment that is clean, organized, and safe for every child.
* Maintain a professional self-image and project the values of the organization at all times.
* Sanitize classroom equipment by following the timeline and checklist.
General Pay and Provisions:
* 40-hour work week with hours available between 7 am and 5:30 pm
* Competitive compensation commensurate with education and experience
* Benefits available: All employees are eligible after six months of employment for: 1 personal day, 2 sick days, holiday pay, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance. After a year of employment: employees are eligible for 401(K) and after 2 years of employment than employees are vested into the 401(k).
