An American Red Cross CPR/First Aid Instructor is responsible for teaching lifesaving skills to a wide range of participants, including individuals, businesses, and community groups. This position requires a commitment to providing engaging, professional, and hands-on training that adheres to the guidelines and standards of the American Red Cross.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Class Instruction
• Deliver CPR, AED, and First Aid training in accordance with American Red Cross standards.
• Facilitate both classroom and hands-on training sessions, ensuring an engaging and safe learning environment.
• Monitor student progress and assess skill proficiency through practical demonstrations and written exams.
• Provide feedback to participants, ensuring they understand key concepts and techniques.
2. Course Preparation
• Set up and break down classrooms, including equipment such as manikins, AED trainers, and first aid kits.
• Ensure all training materials and equipment are clean, in working condition, and meet safety standards.
• Maintain accurate records of class rosters, participant evaluations, and certifications.
3. Compliance and Safety
• Ensure adherence to American Red Cross guidelines, including proper student-to-instructor ratios and course content coverage.
• Follow safety protocols during training sessions and report any issues or incidents to management.
4. Administrative Tasks
• Submit course completion records in a timely manner to the appropriate Red Cross system.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Red Cross programs by attending instructor updates and recertification training.
Requirements
1. Certification Requirements
• Current American Red Cross CPR/First Aid/AED Instructor certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor certification preferred.
2. Experience
• Prior experience in training, education, or a related field is highly desirable.
• Experience using instructional equipment, including manikins, AED trainers, and multimedia teaching aids.
3. Other Requirements
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs (for equipment setup).
• Flexibility to work weekdays, evenings, and weekends as needed.
• Access to reliable transportation.
