Whole Mentality is a trauma-informed, identity-affirming therapy practice serving Raleigh, Durham, Cary, Chapel Hill, Morrisville, Apex, and the entire state of North Carolina through virtual and in-person care. We support humans of all backgrounds - BIPOC clients, LGBTQ+ folks, immigrants, neurodivergent individuals, and those living with chronic illness, trauma, and systemic stress. We support children, teens, adults, relationships and families providing culturally responsive mental health care.

Presently, we are looking for telehealth therapists. This is a W2 position.


We are looking for therapists who are:

  • Committed to Whole Mentality’s mission statement and statement of positionality listed & linked above. Primarily, we are inclusive, affirming, and accessible.
  • Committed to ongoing anti-oppressive practice, learning, and doing better.
  • Willing to learn and engage in marketing and community engagement opportunities
  • Willing to work at least 2 days of evening hours (3pm-7pm or later) per week, otherwise scheduling can be flexible.
  • Able to conduct a minimum of:
  • Fully Licensed: 23 sessions per week (Clinicians are able to see up to an average of 28 clients a week, based on job performance - ie overall wellbeing, note completion rate, etc.)
  • Provisionally Licensed: 20 sessions per week (Clinicians are able to see up to 26 clients per week, based on job performance - ie overall wellbeing, note completion rate, etc.)

Yes, there is a “maximum” case load of sessions per week. The mental health and wellbeing of our providers is part of our ethos.

  • Willing to run 1 group/community offering per calendar year.
  • This could be a multi-week therapy/support group, or 1x community workshop or series
  • Able to complete clinical notes within 2 business days, and intake notes within 7 business days. Any and all crisis notes expected to be completed within 1 day.
  • Able to return client/prospective client/referral/community partner phone calls/emails within 24 business hours
  • Willing to commit to learning and growing their clinical practice through an evidence based practice and/or decolonizing therapy education in line with their clinical values & professional goals (see training/stipend below)


Pay Rate

Fully Licensed:

60% commission (provisionally licensed) of insurance/self pay rates (reimbursed for copays, deductibles, consultation fees, etc., any time client/insurance pays you for your interactions with your client(s))

$18/hour administrative time pay. 5 hours per week. Use as you wish. Expectation to use for consultations and marketing yourself during the initial 90 days, where you can bill up to 30 hours of admin pay per week, hours reduce per client added within your first 90 days.

Provisionally Licensed:

55% commission (provisionally licensed) of insurance/self pay rates (reimbursed for copays, deductibles, consultation fees, etc., any time client/insurance pays you for your interactions with your client(s))

$15/hour administrative time pay. 3 hours per week. Use as you wish. Expectation to use for consultations and marketing yourself during the initial 90 days, where you can bill up to 30 hours of admin pay per week, hours reduce per client added within your first 90 days.

After 60 days: (1st of the month, 60 days after hire)

  • Optional Health Insurance
  • Employee: Your company covers up to 50% of the premium of Blue Options Platinum (Copay) 250 Plan 1. Employee pays the difference in premium if they select a more expensive plan.
  • Dependents: Employee pays for the whole premium.
  • Optional Vision Insurance
  • Employee: Your company covers 25% of the premium.
  • Dependents: Employee pays for the whole premium.
  • Optional Dental Insurance
  • Employee: Your company covers 30% of the premium.
  • Dependents: Employee pays for the whole premium.

After 90 days:

  • $400/year CE Stipend
  • 10 paid holidays per year
  • *prorated based on your start date
  • 1 floating holiday in your birthday month
  • 2 weeks PTO* (=40 hours)
  • Vacation/Sick/Holiday Pay is paid out in the following IF you are meeting your quarterly expectation
  • First Year = $40/hour
  • 1-3 Years = $50/hour
  • 3+ years = $55/hour
  • If you are NOT meeting the minimum client requirement, PTO is paid at the rate of your admin pay ($15/hour)
  • Full time employees have the option for a 401(k) plan with a 100% match on the first 3% of compensation deferred. You are automatically enrolled at 3% unless you adjust it and/or opt out. This begins after your 3 month introductory period.
  • This means that your employer will match your contributions:
  • 100% Match on the First 3%: Your employer will match 100% of your contributions up to 3% of your compensation.
  • Company sponsored Term Life Insurance - $10,000
  • Option to increase at employee expense

  • Provisionally licensed clinicians also receive a $300 supervision stipend after their initial 90 days.


Post interview, all candidates will be required to:

  • Complete a background check (local, state, & federal)
  • These will occur annually
  • Complete an education & licensure verification
  • Provide a copy of their clinical license for North Carolina (Ex: LCSW, LCSWA, LCMHC, LCMHCA, LMFT, LMFTA)
  • Provide 2-3 references of their clinical and/or professional experience
  • Provide proof of malpractice insurance coverage prior to any start date with 1 million/3 million coverage
