THERAPY FOR THE PEOPLE THIS STATE KEEPS TURNING AWAY
Whole Connection is a trauma-informed group practice in Boulder and Denver. We also see clients across Colorado by telehealth. About 70% of our clients are on Health First Colorado (Medicaid), which almost no private practice in this state will take. Our clinicians speak Spanish, Somali, and Farsi.
Colorado ranks 41st in the country for mental health access. Roughly 880,000 Coloradans say they could not get care they needed, and the reason they give most often is that they could not get an appointment.
We try to be the appointment, and we do not refer people out because we are full. That is why we hire ahead of demand instead of behind it. We have more referrals than clinicians, and we would rather have room than a waitlist.
We are hiring two to three therapists who are building hours toward licensure.
SUPERVISION AND YOUR LICENSURE HOURS
If you are accruing hours, it is probably the most important thing about where you work, so here is ours in detail.
You get individual supervision and our weekly two-hour training/supervision group.
Your supervision time is paid at the administrative rate.
We keep a running Supervision Log and a licensure-hour tracker for every candidate, so you always know how far you are from the hours you need. If supervision transfers or ends, your accrued hours are certified and your disclosure updated. No gap, no lost hours.
Several of our clinicians are licensing this fall. That is the path this role is on. When you license, your rate moves to our licensed band, consultation continues every other week, and the training group stays open to you if you want to keep coming.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Clinical care
- Individual psychotherapy across the lifespan, including children and adolescents
- Family and couples sessions where they fit your caseload and your training
- Clinical assessments with diagnosis, risk assessment, level of care recommendation, and rationale
- PHQ-9 and GAD-7 at intake and at each reassessment
- Treatment planning and coordination with the client's other providers
- Crisis assessment and safety planning, with a supervisor always reachable
Documentation
- Charting in our EHR, with a clinical scribe tool and documentation review support that cut down typing time
- Progress notes signed within 72 hours. Treatment plan within 3 sessions of a new client. Assessments and plans reviewed at least every 6 months.
- Accurate times, place of service, and coding, so claims go out clean the first time
Team
- Weekly group supervision and monthly in-service training led by outside experts
- Case consultation with a supervision team that answers the phone
- Consultation continues after you license, every other week, paid
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Required:
- Master's degree or higher in counseling, social work, or a closely related field from an accredited program
- Registration with Colorado DORA as an LPCC, SWC, or LSW accruing hours toward licensure
- Comfort working in an EHR, and willingness to document to insurance standards
Colorado candidate registration is required.
A note for MFT candidates: Colorado requires an MFTC's supervisor of record to hold an active LMFT. We do not have one on staff, so we could not sign hours toward your licensure. We would rather say that plainly than waste your time.
Preferred:
- Experience with Medicaid clients and with complex, under-resourced cases
- Couples or family therapy training: Gottman, EFT, structural or systemic, IFS-informed, or comparable. We pay extra for that work. See below.
- Trauma training (EMDR, somatic, or comparable)
- Spanish, Somali, Farsi, or another second language
- Availability that includes Denver in-person or evenings. Those are our tightest slots.
Newly registered and building your first caseload? Apply. We work with candidates at every stage, and Medicaid, which is most of our book, allows candidate-level clinicians to render care under supervision from day one. You will not sit empty waiting on paperwork.
PAY AND BENEFITS
This is a W-2 employee position, not contract work. No self-employment tax, no buying your own malpractice coverage, no invoicing. Paid every two weeks through Gusto. Malpractice covered.
Clinical rate: $42 to $54 per hour, based on experience.
Administrative rate: $25 per hour. Documentation, care coordination, supervision, and team meetings are paid, not absorbed.
Benefits: PTO and Sick Time, a 401(k) with a 6% employer match, and six paid holiday closures. Additional Monthly in-service training is included.
WHERE AND WHEN YOU WILL WORK
Offices in Boulder (100 Arapahoe Ave, Ste 14) and Denver (5335 W 48th Ave, Fifth Floor), plus statewide telehealth on our HIPAA-compliant platform. In-person hours run Monday through Thursday, 9 AM to 6 PM, and Friday 9 AM to 5 PM. Telehealth runs 9 AM to 8 PM, so evenings are available if that fits your life better. Scheduling is hybrid, and we will build a mix that works for you and for the clients who need to be seen in person.
