Weston Corporate Services is seeking a reliable and motivated Maintenance Assistant & Apprentice to support the Head of Maintenance in the daily operations and upkeep of our businesses along the San Antonio River Walk. This is a hands-on position ideal for someone looking to develop skills in general maintenance, facilities operations, and event setup. The right candidate will be a team player with a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn, and the physical ability to assist with labor-intensive tasks. This role includes Saturday work, with a typical schedule of 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM and two weekdays off (totaling around 32 hours per week).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head of Maintenance with a wide range of facility-related tasks, including basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and landscaping.
  • Serve as a physical support for lifting, moving, and setting up heavy furniture and event equipment.
  • Learn and develop trade skills through hands-on work under the mentorship of our Head of Maintenance.
  • Help monitor and respond to routine maintenance requests and facility needs across multiple business outlets.
  • Support the setup and breakdown of events, including arranging tables, chairs, and décor as needed.
  • Perform general upkeep duties including trash removal, basic landscaping, and facility cleanliness.
  • Conduct regular inspections of tools, equipment, and common areas to ensure everything is in safe working condition.
  • Communicate effectively with the Head of Maintenance and managers.

Qualifications:

  • Interest in learning building maintenance, trades, and facility management.
  • Ability to
  • Ability to lift heavy objects, be on your feet for extended periods, and work outdoors as needed.
  • Strong work ethic, punctuality, and a willingness to follow instructions.
  • Availability to work Saturdays and a flexible schedule.
  • Prior experience in a maintenance, construction, or labor-intensive role is a plus, but not required.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and complete tasks based on written work orders, ensuring timely and accurate execution of maintenance requests.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand, walk, and/or remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to occasionally reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • Must be able to lift, move, and balance up to 50 lbs. without assistance
  • Must be able to perform repetitive motions, including but not limited to typing or writing
  • Constant use of 2 hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or equipment 
  • Must be able to speak and express or exchange ideas both orally and written


Salary

$20 - $20 per hour
