Wesscapes is a full-service outdoor contracting company specializing in landscape and hardscape design, installation and maintenance. We are a forward thinking company that values its employees, customers, and community at large. We are looking for an experienced Sales Manager who is highly motivated and self-driven to help us grow our company and its brand throughout the Capital Region and beyond. This person should possess excellent leadership skills and be able to train and lead a team of sales representatives toward common company goals. This person will be able to follow up on company-generated leads and generate their own new leads, following through on the entire sales process with customers from start to finish using their personal touch and our cloud-based software/ other company technology. This person should be able to make meaningful connections with our new and existing customers, who may be with us for years to come. The manager will be in charge of assisting in recruitment and training of new sales representatives as well.

Compensation and Benefits:

  1. Salary plus Commission-Based Pay Scale
  2. On-Target Earnings of $120,000 - $150,000 per year
  3. Baseline salary of $60,000 - 72,000 per year (Varies depending on benefits package)
  4. Plus commission based on personal sales performance/ sales team performance (TBD)

Number of hires for this role

  1. One immediately. Two to three sales representatives to assist the Manager within 6-24 months. Manager will train sales representatives as part of the job description.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Sufficient knowledge in landscape/hardscape/ fencing/ snow management processes.
  • Sufficient knowledge of the sales process and how to sell to homeowners and business owners
  • Able to identify, train, and support new and existing sales representatives as part of a team with sales goals
  • Customer service skills should exceed clients’ expectations and be able to address their questions and needs.
  • Ability to cope with and bounce back from frequent rejection very well
  • Understand a wide variety of Landscape/Hardscape projects, tasks, and maintenance.
  • Explain in full to customers the entire process of their project(s).
  • Communicates well with all crew members, crew leaders, subcontractors, the owner, and clientele
  • Strives to improve job skills and develop the potential for upward mobility.
  • Knowledge of Eco-Friendly products along with plants/flowers/sod/seed that are best in the Capital Region (this is preferred but not mandatory)
  • Ability to drive and meet with customers in all reasonable weather conditions (excluding severe rain and snow)
  • Expectations of driving mileage can exceed 20,000 miles per year and go up to 40,000 plus miles per year
  • Technologically savvy and able to learn new computer systems that pertain to estimating and sales work
  • Ability to negotiate and speak with subcontractors and employees about customer’s desires and work scope so the work can be executed appropriately

Requirements:

  • Good time management skills and available for long hours during our busy season of April through November
  • Valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, and personal vehicle for appointments (if applicable).

Applicants Must Meet the Following Requirements:

  • Must have a minimum of 2 years professional work experience in sales management and additional 2 years of general sales experience (4 years total)
  • We will train internally for the specifics of the position over a 3-6+ month probationary period (TBD)
  • Knowledge/ background in green industry (landscaping/ hardscaping) a huge plus
  • Valid Drivers’ License that must be maintained for duration of employment. Abstract will be required upon hire.

Job Details (Including but not limited to):

  • Monday-Friday – to be determined, estimating approximately  8:30 am to 5-6:30 pm during peak season hours (April through November)
  • Working on Saturdays may be required during the busiest times of year. Sundays are left up to the sales person, whatever fits their schedule best to hit or exceed their goal numbers
  • Approximately 40 - 60+ Hours Weekly, April through November
  • Approximately 30-40 hours weekly, December through March
  • Hours can vary widely, although the job is not dependent on the quantity of hours worked but your effectiveness as a sales manager. 
  • Work Location: Main office is in Glenville, N.Y. Multiple locations for sales calls, driving to customer homes and businesses daily
  • Own Reliable Transportation is required
