đŸŸ Entry-Level Job, Big Impact: Animal Care Associate (Full-Time)

Start your journey in animal welfare—right here, right now.

Wenatchee Valley Humane Society (WVHS) is looking for someone who doesn’t mind a little fur on their clothes and a whole lot of purpose in their work. Our Animal Care Associates are the behind-the-scenes heroes keeping the shelter running and the animals safe, clean, healthy, and loved.

If you're the type of person who shows up early, works hard, and believes that even cleaning kennels can be an act of compassion—keep reading. This isn’t just a job; it’s a launchpad for a career in animal welfare.

🛠 What You'll Be Doing:

You'll be part of a small, hardworking team that makes sure every animal at WVHS gets the care they deserve—from morning breakfast to meds and enrichment. You’ll:

  • Feed, groom, clean up after, and monitor the health and behavior of animals in our care.
  • Keep their environments clean, safe, and comforting.
  • Work with other teams to support adoptions, reunite lost pets with owners, and serve the public with empathy and professionalism.
  • Learn shelter operations, animal behavior, and even humane euthanasia practices.

📚 What You’ll Learn (and Why That Matters):

This role is a foundational entry into animal welfare and is ideal for someone who wants to grow into roles like veterinary assistant, behavior specialist, leadership positions, or even animal control. You'll gain experience that can lead to national certifications and long-term shelter careers.

đŸ€ You’ll Be a Great Fit If:

  • You’re 18+ and not afraid to get dirty.
  • You’re a team player with strong communication skills and a no-quit attitude.
  • You can lift 50 lbs solo or 100 lbs with help.
  • You're open to learning how to handle all types of animals, from scaredy cats to wild & rowdy dogs.
  • You’re ready to work weekends and holidays because the animals still need us, even then.

Bonus points if you have:

  • Previous shelter, rescue, or vet experience
  • Spanish language skills
  • A desire to stay and grow with the organization

đŸ¶ Why WVHS?
