Who You Are

 

This Business Development role will lead and manage THINKMD’s commercial efforts in the government and donor sectors. This primary focus of the role will be to analyze markets, identify ideal target partners, conduct outreach, build relationships, and generate commercial opportunities in this sector that enable THINKMD to distribute our solution to more users and increase the company’s impact. The secondary focus of this role will be to support fundraising initiatives to acquire grant and project funding to support research, fund technology partnerships, or catalyze adoption of THINKMD’s solutions and services.

 

The Business Development Director will serve as a key member of THINKMD’s Business Development team and bring a depth of experience navigating government and donor players in the international development and/or global health space. This role requires prior experience in the space, established sector relationships and a track record of delivering commercial results with government or donor clients. A history of success in grant and proposal writing will be critical.

 

In this role you will:

  • Analyze government and donor sectors to establish ideal target partners for THINKMD
  • Conduct outreach, foster and build new relationships and partnerships
  • Establish, manage and grow a pipeline of commercial opportunities for THINKMD; these opportunities may include implementation projects, funding, and technical or research initiatives
  • Identify, pursue and acquire promising opportunities through direct client engagement, crafting proposals and grant application submissions
  • Support the Business Development team on a variety of other initiatives as needed
  • Collaborate across the wider THINKMD team; help serve as the voice of partners and funders in the government and donor sectors
  • Constantly innovate and drive efficiency across the team

 

Your Skills & Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience securing government contracts (e.g., USAID, DFID, GTZ, NORAD, etc.)
  • Background and strong existing networks in international development and/or global health
  • Deep knowledge of USAID, current strategy, project pipeline, and major US government contractors (e.g., DAI, Chemonics, Palladium, Tetra Tech, and large NGO contractors)
  • Ability to assess, identify, and win new commercial opportunities in the government sector
  • Deep knowledge of global donor community (especially the health space) and a successful track record of acquiring competitive grant or project funding from donors
  • Outstanding writing ability
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with exceptional capability to communicate and build relationships across cultural, ethnic, and geographic boundaries
  • Experience living and working overseas in low and middle-income countries (LMICs)
  • Ability to travel 20% of the time
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, CRM software
