As WDWNT is the worldwide leader in Disney parks news, it's imperative that we quickly, accurately, and thoroughly report on all news related to the Disney parks and The Walt Disney Company — and our Writers and Editors are the cornerstone of this mission.
A typical shift as a WDWNT Staff Writer involves a number of responsibilities. You will monitor news from external sources and our staff reporters, and write articles as assigned to you by the editor. You will also complete all the related aspects of article production, including fact checking, implementation of SEO, proper use of images, application of appropriate categorization and metadata, etc. It is imperative that you are able to produce accurate and grammatically correct content, sometimes in very short timeframes. Writers are also expected to understand basic journalistic standards, including proper citation of sources, copyrights, etc.
While there is no requirement to visit the parks, you must have extensive knowledge of and familiarity with Walt Disney World Parks and Resorts and significant knowledge of other Disney parks as well as other divisions of the Walt Disney Company.
Candidates interested in the Editor position will start as a Staff Writer while we evaluate your writing skills and abilities. All staff writers are hired for a probationary period of up to 90 days at an hourly rate of $15. Those candidates successfully completing the probationary period are paid at the hourly rate of $17. Interested Staff Writers who have mastered the writing and organizational skills necessary for the editor position will be promoted to Assistant Editor which has a starting wage of $20 per hour.
