The Development Coordinator is a key member of the Development team, providing administrative, event, and communications support to help advance fundraising and community engagement efforts. Working closely with the Development Director, this position helps coordinate the day-to-day activities that sustain donor relationships, fundraising events, and community support for Watson’s mission. The Development Coordinator reports directly to the Development Director and provides coordination and administrative support across a range of fundraising, donor engagement, and community outreach activities. This position helps support fundraising events, donor stewardship, communications, database management, and volunteer engagement. The Development Coordinator plays an important role in ensuring development activities are organized, timely, and well-executed in support of Watson Children’s Shelter’s mission. Watson Children’s Shelter hosts 3 to 4 community events and fundraisers each year, and this position provides key coordination and logistical support to help ensure those events are successful. This role is ideal for someone who is organized, collaborative, detail-oriented, and interested in building a career in nonprofit development.

Description

Key Responsibilities

·        Provide administrative and logistical support for fundraising events and community engagement activities  

·        Assist with event planning, preparation, and day-of event coordination  

·        Support corporate sponsorship outreach and in-kind donation coordination  

·        Help prepare donor acknowledgements, thank-you letters, and stewardship communications  

·        Maintain accurate donor and gift records in the donor database  

·        Enter and update donor interactions, gifts, and meeting notes in a timely manner  

·        Assist with annual appeals, fundraising campaigns, and other development projects  

·        Draft and format communications for print, email, social media, and website updates  

·        Support storytelling and content development that communicates Watson’s mission and impact  

·        Help coordinate volunteer engagement and provide support for volunteer groups  

·        Represent Watson Children’s Shelter at select community events and outreach opportunities  

·        Assist with processing donations and recording transactions accurately and promptly  

·        Provide general administrative support to the Development Director and development team as needed  

 

Qualifications

·        Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business, nonprofit management, or a related field preferred  

·        Experience in fundraising, event coordination, administrative support, communications, or community organizing preferred  

·        Experience working in nonprofit organizations and/or youth-serving organizations is a plus  

·        Strong written and verbal communication skills  

·        Strong organizational skills and attention to detail  

·        Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines with professionalism and flexibility  

·        Comfort working collaboratively with donors, volunteers, staff, and community partners  

·        Experience with Canva or other graphic design tools is a plus  

·        Experience with donor database systems is preferred  

·        A valid Driver’s License is required

·        Ability to lift up to 25 pounds

Salary

$21 - $23 per hour
