Compensation: $58,000 – $63,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly experienced, results-driven Accountant to join our team. This person will be a key player in leading our bookkeeping department, directly supporting our founder by taking on high-level financial tasks and ensuring that our bookkeeping services are delivered with excellence, clarity, and strategic insight.

This is a dynamic leadership role that blends client-facing advisory work, technical accounting, team development, and community representation. Key Responsibilities:


  • Oversee and perform all aspects of bookkeeping, including reconciliations, journal entries, A/R, A/P, and payroll processing
  • Review work prepared by other bookkeepers, ensuring accuracy and providing constructive feedback and mentorship
  • Communicate proactively with clients about financial performance, cash flow, trends, and opportunities
  • Write clear, insightful emails summarizing financial reports and client outcomes
  • Schedule and lead regular client meetings to review financials and discuss strategic recommendations
  • Attend community and networking events to represent the firm and our bookkeeping services
  • Use research and critical thinking skills to solve complex accounting or compliance issues
  • Stay current on payroll tax law, bookkeeping best practices, and HR basics relevant to small businesses
  • Collaborate with the firm owner to take on high-level, strategic tasks and client needs
  • Create training materials and short video tutorials for internal and client use
  • Embrace and implement new tools such as ChatGPT to improve processes and workflows

Qualifications:


  • Accounting experience, including managing multiple sets of books
  • Degree in Accounting or related field
  • Extensive experience in QuickBooks Online is a must — including setup, troubleshooting, and reporting
  • Strong understanding of payroll processes and payroll tax compliance
  • Familiarity with HR compliance basics, such as employee classification and record keeping
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple client relationships
  • Comfortable in a remote and cloud-based work environment, with nationwide clients
  • Confident using modern tools including Google Workspace, Zoom, Loom, Slack, and ChatGPT
  • Tax experience and understanding is a plus
  • Prior experience in a managerial or supervisory role is preferred
