Location: Remote

Customer: 557th Weather Wing / 16th Air Force (Weather Weapons System)

Job Summary:

VSE Tek is seeking a Security Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the Air Force Weather Weapons System. The Security SME will support the core enterprise system components that impact service availability and the mission applications needed for mission execution. The Cybersecurity SME will be responsible for the Risk Management Framework (RMF) packages and the overall cybersecurity posture. The primary mission outcome is to provide operational readiness across climatology systems, data ingest pipelines, processing services, and operational web applications that are currently impacting mission execution.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Perform risk and threat assessment to identify vulnerabilities 
  • Guide the end-to-end security architecture to support Incident Response and risks 
  • Ensure compliance with frameworks, policies, and other mandates (DoD, NIST, etc.) 
  • Validate the existing RMF and cybersecurity posture
  • Integrate cybersecurity into Agile methodologies and DevSecOps


Additional Responsibilities:

 

  • Facilitate collaboration with Government and industry partners to advance the program's goals and objectives
  • Identify and engage with relevant partners to leverage their expertise and resources
  • Develop partnerships and collaborations to support the program's strategic objectives and initiatives. Manage relationships with partners and ensure that deliverables are met.
  • Communicate with partners to provide updates on project status, progress, and outcomes. Work with internal teams to ensure that partners are integrated into the program's operations and decision-making processes.
  • The ability to build strong relationships, collaborate, and communicate effectively with Government customers and stakeholders across the Department of War is essential to the success of the program.

 

Degree/Education and Training Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field  


Certification Requirements

  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)


Clearance Requirements

  • Ability to obtain or currently possess a security clearance

 

Experience

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively
  • A blend of advanced technical expertise, strategic business acumen, and strong soft skills
  • Military service or operational experience is a plus

WORKING CONDITIONS 

  • Sitting at desk. Phone use and PC or laptop. Filing required. May require lifting and carrying boxes of supplies or files up to 25 lbs. Extended periods of sitting while on PC/laptop or phone. 
  • General office equipment, which includes: telephone, fax machine, copier, PC/laptop, and other miscellaneous office equipment 
  • Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is mandatory 
  • You may be asked to continue performance during inclement weather or other conditions when others are not permitted to work 
  • Ad-hoc travel may be required 
  • Candidates must exhibit professional behavior that promotes teamwork, fosters cooperation, and enhances productivity in the workplace. Must be well organized with the ability to coordinate, prioritize and execute multiple tasks simultaneously in a high-pressure environment. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing to work effectively with a variety of government, military and contractor personnel at all levels.  
  • Candidates must be able to interface effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Dress code is usually business casual, but dependent on client’s standards. Must not pose a safety hazard.


Estimated Compensation 

  • $170,000 - $180,000

Individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including but not limited to employee's experience, skills, education, industry, location, company size, and overall market demand.
