Position Location: Remote (Headquarters is in Massachusetts)


VSE Tek LLC is seeking a Director of Business Development (BD). The Director of BD at VSE Tek is focused on developing, nurturing, and closing new opportunities. The individual will establish a healthy sales pipeline, enable the successful closure of new business opportunities, and expand existing customer relationships. Reporting to the President and VP of Operations, the Director of BD is responsible for driving full-lifecycle BD processes across multiple concurrent pursuits and promoting the successful launch of strategic initiatives for future growth. The Director of BD will lead a BD team in developing the overall growth strategy, establishing strong partnerships internally and externally, executing formal campaign plans, staying abreast of competitor activity and managing the pipeline and budgets.


The individual will possess a deep understanding of complex challenges and opportunities in the defense, intelligence, and civilian markets. The ideal candidate has experience with developing and executing business development plans, with the ability to identify and capture new opportunities. Must be an enthusiastic leader that can inspire and motivate teams. The candidate will be a strategic thinker with excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills with an outside-the-box approach to problem solving is ideal. An entrepreneurial spirit with a passion for developing innovative solutions for our customers is the key to success.


The candidate will work with the Operations Team and support when required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

●      Develop and implement comprehensive BD strategies to generate sustainable revenue growth

●      Conduct market assessments and develop strategies for opportunities to target

●      Identify and capture new opportunities

●      Lead teams to achieve successful outcomes

●      Develop effective BD plans

●      Communicate and negotiate with customers

●      Utilize creative problem-solving skills

●      Stay up to date on advanced technology solutions in the defense, intelligence, space, and civilian markets

●      Lead proposal writing/capture management efforts, oversee proposals from concept through contract award

Degree/Education and Training Requirements

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in business or related field


Experience

·      15+ years of experience in a senior business development or program management role within the Defense Industrial Base

·      Quickly assimilate important/relevant information to facilitate overall strategic planning, pursuit, core BD objectives/metrics, and, in general, the successful growth of the company, per objectives.

·      Ability to manage large complex customer projects and help resolve problems when necessary.


WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Sitting at desk. Phone use and PC or laptop. Filing required. May require lifting and carrying boxes of supplies or files up to 25 lbs. Extended periods of sitting while on PC/laptop or phone.
  • General office equipment, which includes telephone, fax machine, copier, PC/laptop, and other miscellaneous office equipment.
  • Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is mandatory. 
  • You may be asked to continue performance during inclement weather or other conditions when others are not permitted to work
  • Travel dictated by conference schedules and other networking opportunities (20% travel required at minimum)
  • Candidates must exhibit professional behavior that promotes teamwork, fosters cooperation, and enhances productivity in the workplace. Must be well organized with the ability to coordinate, prioritize and execute multiple tasks simultaneously in a high-pressure environment. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing to work effectively with a variety of government, military and contractor personnel at all levels. 
  • Candidates must be able to interface effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Grooming and dress is usually business casual, but dependent on meeting/conference engagement standards. Must not pose a safety hazard to employees working in the same general area.


Estimated Compensation

  • $210,000 - $230,000


Individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including but not limited to employee's experience, skills, education, industry, location, company size, and overall market demand.
