About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to serve as the technical backbone of our on-premises and datacenter infrastructure. This role owns our vSphere virtualization environment, NAS storage, physical servers, network equipment, and firewall configurations across three datacenter sites. You will also own our infrastructure monitoring stack and play a key role in backup and disaster recovery planning. This is a hands-on, highly technical role for someone who thrives in complex multi-site environments and takes pride in keeping production systems stable, secure, and well-documented.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

• Own and operate our VMware vSphere environment across three datacenter sites, including VM lifecycle management, resource pool configuration, and hypervisor health
• Administer NAS shared storage systems, including capacity planning, performance monitoring, and snapshot/backup policies
• Manage physical server hardware and rack infrastructure including procurement, deployment, and decommissioning
• Configure and maintain firewalls and network equipment across all sites; own firewall policy and change management
• Deploy and maintain our infrastructure monitoring stack (Prometheus, Grafana, Alertmanager); develop and tune alerting rules for host-level metrics across VMs and hypervisors
• Own backup and disaster recovery strategy for on-premises infrastructure; maintain and test recovery procedures
• Partner with the IT Security Engineer on log forwarding from infrastructure into SIEM and on firewall policy review
• Maintain accurate infrastructure documentation including network diagrams, runbooks, and hardware inventory
• Participate in on-call rotation for infrastructure incidents
• Administer Tailscale for secure remote access and site-to-site connectivity; manage device authorization, ACL policies, and subnet routing across datacenter and cloud environments

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in infrastructure or systems engineering roles
• Deep experience with VMware vSphere (ESXi, vCenter); VCP certification is a plus but not required
• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals: VLANs, routing, firewall policy, and switching
• Experience with NAS/SAN storage platforms and protocols (NFS, iSCSI, SMB)
• Proficiency with Linux server administration (FreeBSD experience is a plus)
• Experience with Prometheus and Grafana for infrastructure monitoring
• Familiarity with backup solutions
• Strong documentation habits; ability to write clear runbooks and architecture diagrams
• Experience operating production infrastructure with an on-call or incident response responsibility

Nice to Have

• Experience with Proxmox or other hypervisor platforms
• Exposure to IaC tooling (Terraform, Ansible) for infrastructure configuration management
• Familiarity with SIEM log forwarding (syslog, Beats, or similar)
• Experience with multi-site WAN and SD-WAN architectures
