See all opportunities at VitriVax, Inc: HERE The Senior Scientist in analytical research and development in the Product Research and Development (PRD) group is responsible for developing and applying analytical methods to characterize ALTA™ products and in-process materials which contain nucleic acids and/or lipids. The senior scientist must adapt and routinely apply chromatographic, spectroscopic, molecular, and biological methods to ALTA™ products which contain dilute antigens and insoluble ALD coatings. This role reports to the Head of PRD and will work with a team of scientists and research associates for training and study execution. This is a full-time position, located in Boulder, Colorado.

Description

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • In-house resource for nucleic acid and lipid-based analytical method development
  • Designs, authors, and executes protocols to develop and qualify analytical methods.
  • Independently plans and executes studies to investigate ALTA™ product stability, process yield and composition.
  • Prepares study reports and presents data to teams, partners and executives.
  • Helps train Product Research and Development staff to address project needs.
  • Works effectively and dynamically in cross-functional teams to complete partner projects
  • Maintains equipment and ensures that methods and equipment are fit-for-purpose.
  • Supports Quality Control testing for product release and stability testing.
  • Works closely with Formulation Development and Quality Assurance to establish specifications.
  • Contributes toward portions of IND or BLA eCTD module 2 and 3.  
  • Adheres to Company policies and safety guidelines 

Education and Experience

  • Must be able to perform the responsibilities and duties listed above.
  • A PhD degree in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, with dissertation research characterizing nucleic acids, lipids, and/or biological materials.
  • Analytical training including advanced characterization of nanoparticles, lipids and nucleic acids using molecular (PCR), spectroscopic, calorimetric and chromatographic tools is required.
  • Hands on experience designing and characterizing LNP-mRNA preferred.
  • Experience with analytical methods for protein characterization and lyophilization preferred.
  • Supervisory experience and cross functional team leadership.
  • Understanding of ICH Q8, Q9, and Q10 and Quality by Design.
  • Proficient in the use of statistical analysis methods and standard office tools like Excel and Word.

Salary and Benefits

The position may be filled at the Senior Scientist or Scientist level. The level will be determined by the applicant’s experience and alignment with current and future responsibilities.

·      Senior Scientist: PhD+5 years or BA+10 years in an academic program aligned with VitriVax needs – range $130,000 - $170,000 DOE

·      Scientist – PhD or BA+5 years in an academic program aligned with VitriVax needs – range $100,000 - $120,000 DOE
