See all opportunities at VitriVax, Inc: HERE The Scientist position in Preclinical Research is responsible for evaluating different vaccine products using in vivo models of immunization paired with immunological characterization. The ideal candidate has in-depth knowledge of assays commonly used in vaccine evaluation. The candidate must have experience coordinating and executing large animal research studies utilizing assays and techniques that are related to this position. An advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) or equivalent level of experience is also required. This role reports to the Head of Preclinical Research and will work with a team of scientists for training and study execution. This is a full-time position, located in Boulder Colorado.


Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Maintains laboratory notebook and equipment logs consistent with policies.
  • Coordinates and manages large animal research studies for the evaluation of ALTA™ vaccines.
  • Follows current IACUC protocols and coordinates between internal and external stakeholders to author or amend protocols as needed.
  • Facilitates communication between external contractors or collaborators that participate in VitriVax led animal research activities.
  • Develops, standardizes, coordinates, and executes immunological methods such as (ELISAs, qRT-PCR, Luminex, Flow Cytometry, ELISPOT, etc.).
  • Will be required to perform animal handling techniques such as (injections, blood draws, dissection, and histology).
  • Proficient in experimental design and data analysis.
  • Author written reports that summarize experimental design, analysis, and interpretation of results.
  • Conduct literature reviews, summarize findings and make recommendations.
  • Assist with general lab operations to advance the goals of Preclinical Research including animal research, preparing media and buffers, maintaining equipment.
  • Adheres to Company policies and safety guidelines.

Education and Experience

  • This is not an entry level position. Candidates must have research experience in an academic or industry setting.
  • Ph.D. or an equivalent R&D experience within industry is required (5 years laboratory research environment).
  • Experience in standard immunological and serological assays.
  • Experience conducting animal research.
  • Experience with common laboratory data software and statistical analysis.

Salary and Benefits

Salary for the position will be determined by the applicant’s experience and alignment with current and future responsibilities.

  • Annual Salary Range: $90,000 - $110,000 DOE
