See all opportunities at VitriVax, Inc: HERE The RAI or RAII position Research Associate I-II in Particle Characterization in the Chemistry, Manufacturing, and Controls (CMC) group is responsible for developing and applying analytical methods to characterize spray dried and ALTA® products and in-process materials containing a variety of active pharmaceutical ingredients. The Research Associate I-II must adapt and apply typical particle analysis for pharmaceutical products. This role reports to a VP of CMC and will work with a team of scientists and research associates for analytical and study execution. This is a full-time position, located in Boulder, Colorado.

Description

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Executes various particle characterization assays 
  • Remains up to date on particle characterization techniques and coordinates testing by third parties as needed. 
  • Maintains and calibrates analytical instruments. 
  • Independently executes and authors reports summarizing material properties of ALTA® particles, intermediates and processes. 
  • Executes methods and trains staff in methods for routine use and supports investigations when material or methods deviate from expectations. 
  • Works effectively and enthusiastically in cross-functional teams to complete partner projects under aggressive timelines 
  • Supports investigations of ALTA® manufacturing processes.  
  • Ensures that methods and equipment are fit-for-purpose.  
  • Adheres to Company policies and safety guidelines.   

Education and Experience:

  • Must be able to perform the responsibilities and duties listed above 
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Analytical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, or related field 
  • Technical skills and experience designing, qualifying, validating, transferring, and troubleshooting analytical methods.  
  • Experience with a variety of general particle analytical techniques (i.e. Karl Fisher, surface area analysis, SEM, density, ICP-MS, AAS, powder flowability and friability, etc.). 
  • Background working with lyophilized or spray dried pharmaceutical products, particularly with proteins, lipids, and/or mRNA lyophilization preferred 
  • Understanding of ICH Q8, Q9, and Q10 and Quality by Design preferred. 
  • Proficient in the use of statistical analysis methods and standard office tools like Excel and Word.

Salary and Benefits

The position may be filled at Research Associate I or II

The salary-band range for this role is $60,000 - $80,000 DOE. 

The level will be determined by the applicant’s experience and alignment with current and future responsibilities.
