Description

The Facility Engineer will be a part of the Operations team, reporting to the VP of Operations, and will be responsible for facility security & maintenance at our new R&D laboratory, as well as heavily involved in the next phase of facility construction. This role is a good opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work, doing a variety of different things in a day or week, and collaborating with team members from different departments. You will have opportunity to work on new construction projects, work on an EH&S team, and further develop expertise in facility & laboratory operations and systems. Multiple careers development pathways will be available for this position depending upon your skills and inclination.

This is a full-time, on-site position located in Boulder, Colorado.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Primary point of contact for facility & facility equipment performance issues, to include:
  • HVAC
  • Building management system
  • Building security systems
  • Pure water systems
  • Environmental chambers
  • Participate in, or manage, facility expansion/upgrade projects.
  • Collaborate with other team members.
  • Perform equipment maintenance for tasks “within your expertise.”
  • Supervise equipment vendors & contractors for more complex maintenance issues.
  • Participate in EH&S team, manage day-to-day EH&S operations, and train employees on facility safety policy and procedures.
  • Determine the nature, scope, and viability of assigned facility projects.
  • Adhere to budget and schedule parameters, and delegate assignments appropriately.
  • Manage and oversee day-to-day facility requests, maintenance, and improvements.
  • Be responsible for the security of the company, the organization of the safety systems of the premises, and the relationship with the contractors of the security firm, ensuring appropriate support.

Education and Qualifications

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in Facility Management including,
  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or related field; additional experience and capability may be substituted for a degree.
  • Must be able to perform the responsibilities and duties listed above.
  • Solid hands-on mechanical and electrical skills.
  • Intelligent and motivated individual that takes responsibility for completing maintenance and operations tasks with focus on quality.
  • Experience in leading large capital facility projects and planning activities.
  • Experience with implementing and enhancing building automation systems.
  • Track record of identifying and implementing facility sustainability improvements.
  • The selection, validation, and management of various contractors to perform facilities related work.
  • Has a ‘how can I help’ mindset.
  • Strong communicator.
  • Ability and willingness to learn new skills and software tools.
  • Able to lift 50lbs and work in a laboratory or cleanroom environment for extended periods.

Salary and Benefits

The position may be filled at Associate Director Facility Engineer or Director Facility Engineer depending upon qualifications and experience. The level will be determined by the applicant’s experience and alignment with current and future responsibilities.
