Bilingual (Spanish/English) Medical Assistant

General Summary:

The position is responsible for performing a variety of duties as assigned. The position will be cross trained in both clinical and administrative areas including assisting physicians with patient care and handling clerical and organizational tasks. Required to be bilingual (English/Spanish). Native Spanish speaking candidate preferred.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  1. Assisting in keeping medical providers on schedule by efficiently rooming patients including gathering vitals, medical histories, and other pertinent tasks.
  2. Preparing rooms between patients.
  3. Answering medical calls and triaging all messages for medical providers.
  4. Efficiently processing medication prior authorizations.
  5. Translating documents from English to Spanish as needed.
  6. Interpreting (English/Spanish) phone calls as needed.
  7. Interpreting (English/Spanish) medical visits as needed.
  8. Other duties, as assigned, as needed.


High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED), medical assistant diploma from an accredited vocational institution, or a community college course in medical assisting.


Minimum one year of recent experience working in a medical facility as a medical assistant. Five years or greater is preferred. Current experience in: Electrocardiogram (EKG/ECG), vital signs, and injections. Epic EHR experience highly preferred. Experience with HIPAA/PHI security protocols and procedures. Strong experience with filling out insurance prior authorizations for medications.

Other Requirements:

Must possess a current CPR or BLS certification and current health records with the appropriate immunizations to work in the health care field (hepatitis B, Flu, COVID-19, and tuberculosis). Native Spanish speaker or valid certificate of Medical Spanish fluency from an accredited institution.
