We are seeking a motivated Resident in Counseling to join us as an IOP Group Therapist.

You will serve as a primary group facilitator for our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and support our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) as needed. This is an opportunity to gain experience across two levels of care in a boutique setting while working toward your LPC.

Room to Grow: This part-time role has a clear path to full-time as our programs grow.

Key Responsibilities

Lead IOP Groups: Facilitate IOP Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday afternoons, 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM (three 1-hour sessions, mostly virtual), creating a safe, dynamic, and empathetic milieu for clients engaging with anxiety, depression, and trauma. We do not accept active psychosis, aggressive detox, or acuity that belongs in a hospital setting.

Support PHP: Lead PHP sessions as needed when IOP is not meeting. PHP is always in person and runs Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM.

Design Curriculum: Use your creativity to design engaging group topics (e.g., Art Therapy, ACT, Mindfulness) in collaboration with our Clinical Director.

Coordinate Care: Manage intakes, help oversee daily group schedules, complete timely and accurate documentation, and collaborate with the treatment team and families to ensure a holistic approach to client support.

Manage Risk: Develop skills in risk assessment and crisis management under the direct mentorship of experienced clinical leadership.

Predictable Schedule: IOP meets Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM. IOP is currently mostly virtual, with the potential to expand to an in-person group. No evenings, weekends, or on-call shifts.

Flexible Additional Hours: Additional PHP sessions are available based on program need, giving you the option to increase your hours and income.

Invested Supervision: We provide your weekly licensure supervision at no cost (an approximate value of $5,000/year), supporting your continuous learning and development.

Mentorship: You will report directly to the Clinical Director and receive training in advanced clinical skills, group facilitation, and program operations.

Qualifications

Licensure: Must be approved (or eligible immediately) as a Resident in Counseling with the Virginia Board of Counseling.

Education: Master's Degree in Counseling.

Experience: Previous group facilitation experience is required (IOP, PHP, or Inpatient experience is a strong plus).

Attributes: We are looking for a clinician who balances clinical expertise with creativity. You should feel comfortable facilitating dynamic groups and addressing complex situations with calm confidence.

Compensation

Pay: $28–$32 per hour, based on experience.

Hours: Approximately 9 hours of IOP facilitation per week plus documentation time, with additional PHP hours available.

Path to Full-Time: Opportunity to transition to a full-time position as programs grow.

Benefits: Free weekly licensure supervision, plus free professional training and CEUs. This part-time position is not eligible for medical, retirement, or PTO benefits.
