Director of Finance
Location: San Diego, CA (Hybrid)
Compensation: $160,000–$200,000 base salary + equity + comprehensive benefits

What You'll Do
Accounting & Financial Operations
- Own monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes
- Maintain accurate U.S. GAAP financial statements and reporting
- Manage cash flow, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities
- Coordinate with external accounting, tax, and audit firms
- Lead the company's annual audit process from planning through completion
- Develop scalable financial controls, policies, and operating procedures
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and reporting requirements
Planning & Analysis
- Build and maintain company operating models, forecasts, and budgets
- Develop financial and operational KPIs that drive decision-making
- Analyze business performance and identify opportunities for improvement
- Support pricing, investment, hiring, and growth decisions
- Partner with leadership to evaluate strategic initiatives
Board & Investor Reporting
- Prepare monthly investor reporting packages
- Develop quarterly board presentations and supporting analyses
- Participate in board meetings and leadership reviews
- Support financing activities, due diligence requests, and investor communications
Finance Infrastructure
- Implement and improve finance systems, processes, and reporting tools
- Build a finance organization capable of supporting future growth
- Establish best practices that improve visibility, predictability, and operational discipline
What We're Looking For
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience
- Experience in public accounting, preferably audit or assurance
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP
- Experience leading or supporting external audits
- Experience building financial models, budgets, and forecasts
- Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills
- Ability to operate independently in a fast-moving environment
Preferred
- CPA designation
- Experience at a venture-backed startup or growth-stage company
- Experience preparing board and investor reporting materials
- Familiarity with revenue recognition and subscription-based business models
- Experience supporting fundraising, due diligence, or financing activities
- SaaS, industrial technology, AI, energy, or infrastructure experience
